Hello and welcome to the second episode of the Leading Change podcast.
We are continuing the conversation around TVAWGs in transportation and today we are focusing on what the parking sector is already doing and discussing the DfT's strategy for the campaign.
Joining me on todays podcast is Anne Shaw, Executive Director - Transport for West Midlands
Before joining TfWM, Anne worked with Birmingham City Council's transport department, starting on the shop floor as a junior technician and working her way up to assistant director.
In 2021 Anne and West Midlands Combined Authority chief executive Laura Shoaf, were chosen by Government as champions to lead on efforts to tackle violence against women and girls on public transport.
They are the UK's first Violence Against Women and Girls Transport Champions.
Under the new role they have worked with the Department for Transport, as well as passenger groups and the transport industry, to identify areas for improvement across the country’s transport network.
You can find the transport champions report, strategy and recommendations to DfT here.
I'm also joined by Jamie Ashford, Director - DCB Legal
Jamie, who is DCB Legal’s Technical Legal Director, has over 10 years of qualified litigation experience that has seen him acting for a variety of clients across different sectors and in a broad range of disputes.
Jamie is one of few with niche experience in Parking Law. Jamie is a member of the BPA Council of Representatives and an active member of Women in Parking, and proudly supports the TVAWGs campaign. Jamie recently won the Earnest Davis Award for his submission WoMEN in parking a males perspective.
