Our last episode of Season 1! Thank you so much for joining us as we share just a little of Haiti H2O. We are wrapping up the season with some final thoughts about where our organization has been, and where we are going, especially in light of not being able to visit our Haitian partners in person.

How do you measure a non-profit? Do you look at the projects that are done, how much money is donated and where it goes, or what the staff looks like on paper? Do you find the people or group the non-profit is helping and make your opinions on their well-being?

We asked our co-founders and the members of Friendship Community Church the question, "How do you define success for Haiti H2O?" Today we are sharing their answers with you.

We are feeling the love today! We hope that the previous episodes have been able to show that through building relationships and sharing life with our Haitian partners, we find ourselves completely smitten, not only with the people but also with the culture of Haiti. Our lives are shaped for the better by knowing our partners in a deep and meaningful way. Long before Haiti H2O came to be, our founders named their trips to Haiti 'The Haitian Connection.' That name alone encompasses the heart behind the relationships that have been built over the past 2 decades—the connection to our partners in Haiti is the number one priority. We are veering away from our usual episode format today to talk about Friendship Community Church's 2011 trip to Bassin Caiman. As we talk about this wild ride of a story, we will see the trip participants lean heavily on all the lessons we have been talking about so far. It was difficult, it was humorous in hind-sight, but it definitely wasn't cholera.

We are taking you farther into the everyday lives of our Haitian partners and discussing healthcare in Haiti. There are no doctors or medical facilities in the remote part of the country where our partners live, and the leaders in each community do what they can to take care of each ailment. Listen in as we discuss the measures our partners have taken and what they are working towards for the future. We are joined by co-founder Doug Bradbury, Board member Tom Boyer, and Friendship Community Church members Sue Randall and Amanda Willingham.

In the non-profit world, ABCD is much more than an introduction to basic understanding. Asset-Based Community Development flips the narrative of support from a hand-out to a hand-up. Haiti H2O strongly holds to the belief that every single person on this earth has something to contribute to the well-being of their families and communities.
