  • The Learning Journey of an Illinois Student Brand That Landed on Shark Tank and Retail Shelves Nationwide
    Dec 2 2025

    🎙️ Episode Description:

Today we have a REALLY cool episode for us because this recording was from one of our live speaker events of this Fall 2025 semester. We’ve reworked a bit to turn it into a podcast episode for you (which by the way if you don’t follow our show yet, please do). This guest is not one of our students, BUT she did start her business as a college student, so this definitely fits in with our mission.

We dove right into the BIG exciting successes of our super impressive guest Charlotte Trecartin and her company CharCharms, including recently appearing on season 16 of Shark Tank, landing numerous giant retail partnerships (that I won’t give away just yet) and then growing to become a roughly $10M company practically just out of college. In the spirit of this show being geared toward those just starting on the path to making something creative– we wanted to be sure to go back and cover all the really important steps Charlotte took early on that YOU can do too, right now, even if you’re just starting to make those sales.

  • 2 Reminders for Maximizing Holiday Sales as a Creative Brand
    Nov 11 2025

    🎙️ Episode Description:

We have our co-founder Lindsay here today to remind us of TWO major lessons when aiming to maximize your sales as a small business creator, especially during the holidays. These tips would apply to businesses of all types and sizes, but we are coming at this from the standpoint of creative makers offering products of theirs either in person at craft markets, pop-up shops, or retail stores– OR online, in a marketplace such as Etsy or Student-Made, or maybe even your own ecommerce site. We have over 400 students currently starting and growing businesses on campus through our SM program across the country, and holiday sales are an enormous opportunity to see their brand gain a ton of traction and momentum as they look to potentially take it beyond a side hustle and into a viable business after graduation. There are some mistakes to watch out for during critical sales periods like this– and we want to share what we’ve learned to help YOU create the most impact for your growing brand.
