Welcome to One Beautiful Life, a podcast designed for the Christ-follower seeking to live a beautiful life. With reflections on scripture and theology, exploration into the philosophy of beauty, and guest interviews to highlight the array of examples of what living a beautiful life looks like, this project is meant to serve as a jumping-off point for you and I to live a beautiful life, more fully alive in imitation of Christ, the source of beauty – and Beauty Himself.

We only have one life. Let's make it beautiful for Christ.

What does it mean to be made in the Image and Likeness of God? Today, I'm back with Lauren and we're discussing this very question. With Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and Pope St. John Paul II's Letter to Artists as touchpoints for our conversation, we touched on everything from Christ's Incarnation to the tragedy of sin to co-creating a beautiful life with God.

What does it mean to live a beautiful life? Every person will have a different answer to this question, and I'll be exploring that with a wide array of guests on this podcast.

In today's episode, I brought my longtime dear friend, Katelyn Carney, on to chat about this question & more. What resulted was a wonderful conversation on the beauty of marriage, morning routines, the significance of memory, spiritual motherhood, and – of course – Christmas decor. I can almost guarantee you'll walk away from this episode with a sore belly from laughing and some words of wisdom to chew on, courtesy of Katelyn.

I've been having lots of thoughts about creativity lately, and watching the new documentary on film composer John Williams poured fuel on that fire. In today's episode, I'm discussing some components of our current society today that have the ability to discourage creativity, and encouraging you to create for the sake of creating.

We're made in the Image and Likeness of God, and that means we've been given an ability to create because we're made in the Image and Likeness of the Creator. Creating just for the sake of creating can be counterintuitive for several reasons in today's culture, but by no means does this mean creativity shouldn't be engaged with for the sake of itself. Creativity is good for us, both in body and in soul.
