  • Netflix, Driving the Speed Limit, & Pictures of Jesus | The Briefcase & The Barn – Ep 60

    *Live Event Tickets:* https://www.eventbrite.com/e/leadership-life-lessons-with-colonel-tray-ardese-tickets-1680267618679?aff=oddtdtcreator

This week, Gary and I went all over the map—starting with Netflix and Narcos, then asking the question: do Christians really need to drive the speed limit? We also got into one of the big ones: are pictures of Jesus actually ok, or are they breaking the 2nd Commandment?

From homeschool extremes, to why we all push back on authority, to the reality farmers face with Canada’s worker shortage—we tried to keep it real, grounded in faith, and cracking a few jokes along the way.

    Enjoy

  • Why the Church Is Full of Hurting People Pretending to Be Fine | Freedom Session I Ken Dyck – Ep 36
    Aug 30 2025

If you think church is just for people who have it all together… You might want to listen to this one.

In this episode, I sit down with Ken Dyck, founder of Freedom Session—a 21-week journey that’s been called “the deepest and most transferable healing discipleship ministry in North America.” We talk about why Sunday mornings often feel like a museum for “good” people instead of a hospital for the broken, why so many Christians quietly live with guilt, shame, and emotional pain, and how Freedom Session helps people actually heal—not just cope.

Ken shares his own story, how the program began, and why it works for everyone, from business leaders to single moms. We hit on discipleship, emotional maturity, and the stuff most churches never teach you about how to process pain with Jesus.

If you’ve ever thought, “I’m fine,” but know something’s missing, this conversation might be the start of rewriting your story.

I hope you're blessed by our chat.

  • Dutch Culture, Drinking, & “Cultural Sins” | The Briefcase & The Barn – Ep 58
    Aug 27 2025

This week, Gary and I sat down to answer a pile of listener questions—and you guys didn’t hold back!

We got into everything from spiritual warfare vs. sleep paralysis, to Dutch “cultural sins” we laugh off but maybe shouldn’t. We also tackled whether God cares about the careers Christians choose, and if it’s a sin to believe wrong theology.

Lastly, we watched and reacted to a heavy but powerful clip from Tim Tebow about child exploitation.

    Enjoy,

    -Kyle

  • Spanking, ADHD, & Raising Strong Kids – Dr. Edward Les – The Briefcase and The Barn – Ep 57
    Aug 20 2025

This episode goes all over the map—in the best way. I’m back with Dr. Edward Les, who was on Episode 30 of The Furiously Curious Show. He's a pediatric ER doc and cancer survivor, talking about his new book "Cloudy with a Risk of Children."

We get into the hot topics of hitting your kids, ADHD, and why boys can’t sit still—plus the bigger stuff like birth rates, family culture, and even gun rights. Ed also shared an update on his cancer and how it is affecting him today.

  • Romans 9, Raw Milk, & The Cost of Avoiding Conflict | The Briefcase & The Barn - Ep 56
    Aug 13 2025

This one’s a mix of deep faith talks, real-life stories, and the kind of rabbit trails you’ve come to expect from Gary and me. We get into why I’ve been reading the book of John the same way, over and over, and how it’s made God way more real to me.

We talk about conflict, courage, and why most of us will do more to avoid what we fear than to get what we actually want. Oh—and we somehow cover dairy quota, church buildings, and debating if you should do a spin class, shirtless.

    Enjoy!

  • Freedom Convoy VS Jewish Hate in Canada's Justice System | The Briefcase & The Barn - Ep 55
    Aug 6 2025

This one’s got it all: mechanical bulls, back pain, and a justice system that punishes honking more than hate.

We dive into Isaiah 55, radical grace, and the insanity of Canada’s court rulings. There’s marriage wisdom from Spurgeon, real talk on forgiveness, and a brutally honest coaching testimony.

    It’s raw. It’s ridiculous. It’s real.

  • Famine, Faith & Hope I Andy Harrington on Feeding the World, Losing His Son & USAID Cuts I Ep 35
    Aug 2 2025

I sat down with Andy Harrington, Executive Director of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank—a network of Christian organizations working together to end global hunger with a budget of around 80 million. Andy doesn’t just talk about impact; he lives it, partnering with farmers across Canada to feed millions around the world.

But his journey into this work wasn’t a straight line. We talk about that journey, which includes the tragic death of his son Chris at 26 years old and how it impacted his perspective on life, faith, and how that pain became fuel for purpose.

We also dig into the real-world consequences of Trump's recent cuts to USAID funding and the huge impact it's having on the world’s hungriest people today.

In summary, this conversation is about a journey of learning to walk by faith, not by sight. I hope it's a blessing to you.
