" في الآونة الأخيرة، كنت أستيقظ كل صباح أشعر بصداع رهيب..تُضحكني جدتي، تقول (ġuħ) بدلاً من uġigħ) ( جوع الرأس بدلاً من الصداع... لا جدوى من إخبارها أن اسمه الألم وليس الجوع. ..دعك منها. لا بد أن جدتي معها حق، هذا صداع ناتج عن الجوع، الجوع يأتي ويذهب.. لطالما كانت جدتي تستخدم عبارات غريبة مثل هذه، تؤولها خطاً على مزاجها، ولطالما كانت أمي عبارة عن مترجم لأي شيء تقوله، بل وتصحح لها دائماً وتدلها على النطق الصحيح... لطالما كانت أمي تزن كل شيء! بعكسك. أنا، أنا التي تصر على وزن كل شيء. من الأفضل لك أن تزني طعامك..

فى هذا العالم أنت تتخذُ إلهَكَ هواك، في هذا العالم أنت المتحكم فى كل الأشياء حولك، هنا أنت الجاني والضحية، أنت الحاكم والمحكوم، أنت نور العالم وظُلمته، أنت من تمتلك مفاتيح الحياة، بيدك الهداية والغواية. هذا العالم هو المهرب لكل من هو ناقم على حياته وواقعه، في هذا العالم بحجم الألم ستكون السعادة، وبحجم القسوة تكون اللذة، وبحجم الخضوع تكون الغَلَبَة، فهل فكرت يومًا أن تقيس مدى تعاستك! أو أن تختبر قدرتك على الصمود؟!...
