The United States' first Special Forces unit in World War II was known as the Marine Raiders. Roberts turned immediately to action, churning straight at the enemy in a near-suicidal attempt to deflect the more potent foe and buy time for MacArthur’s forces.

In 1939, Gustav Kleinmann, a Jewish upholsterer in Vienna, was arrested by the Nazis.
