……ジャーナリストではない一作家にあるのは皮膚感覚だけである。時代の空気感などは、たまたま大都市圏に隣接しているために現代社会の暮らしの風景がほぼそろっているその生活圏で、この身体が日々ダイレクトに感じ取っているものである。すなわち新型コロナウイルスの漠とした恐怖も、マスクや消毒液の不足に伴う社会の殺伐も、長引く緊急事態宣言下の緊張と緩みも、一年延期となった東京オリンピック・パラリンピックへの関心の低さも、外国人技能実習生の暮らしの厳しさも、みなこの生活圏で感じ取り、そのつど時評というかたちで言葉にしたものなのである。
