Easy Company, 506th Airborne Division, U.S. Army, was as good a rifle company as any in the world. From their rigorous training in Georgia in 1942 to D-Day and victory, Ambrose tells the story of this remarkable company, which kept getting the tough assignments. Easy Company was responsible for everything from parachuting into France early D-Day morning to the capture of Hitler's Eagle's Nest at Berchtesgaden.

Band of Brothers is the account of the men of this remarkable unit who fought, went hungry, froze, and died, a company that took 150 percent casualities and considered the Purple Heart a badge of office. Drawing on hours of interviews with survivors as well as the soldiers' journals and letters, Stephen Ambrose tell the stories - often in the men's own words - of these American hereoes.

Amazing by itself, essential as companion

Great narration and timing, and the source material is amazing. Listened to it after I watched band of brothers but would be better before watching it seems. The stories we are privledged enough to hear in this are world class, inspiring, and heart breaking. Thanks for your service E Company of the 501st airborne.

A great read

I very much enjoyed reading this book. It’s insights into what took place in World War II through the company was simply amazing to listen to. So many stories with in this book that are worth hearing

Excellent from start to finish

The narration fit the story and its a great in-depth look at the HBO series. A must listen if you're interested in world war 2. I'd recommend the book before the HBO series if you have the choice.

Exceptional

Ambrose has crafted one of the best historical accounts I have ever read. A must read/listen for anyone interested in WW2 History- and if you aren't, this is the narrative to get you hooked.

A Timeless WWII History Piece

I have seen the HBO series several times and never lost my love for this fantastic piece of WWII history. I finally listened to the book and was surprised to see how closely the HBO series accurately reflects the book's story. Some pleasant surprises were in the book that could not be conveyed on the TV series. There is nothing more fascinating and humbling than the stories of WWII veterans from all sides, and this book will live for the ages.
