In A More Complete Beast, Jack Donovan picks up Friedrich Nietzsche's thoughts on nobility and master morality and uses them to guide men through an "upside-down" modern world, avoid the trap of hateful ressentiment, and overcome adversity through creativity. In Donovan's hands, Nietzsche's words are rasps and chisels to help men refine a strength-based ethos, revealing their highest and noblest selves to become more complete men. And, as Nietzsche reminded us, man is a beast - so to become a more complete man is always to become a more complete beast.

What is masculinity? Ask ten men and you'll get ten vague, conflicting answers. Unlike any book of its kind, The Way of Men offers a simple, straightforward answer - without getting bogged down in religion, morality, or politics. It's a guide for understanding who men have been and the challenges men face today. The Way of Men captures the silent, stifling rage of men everywhere who find themselves at odds with the overregulated, overcivilized, politically correct modern world.

In Fire in the Dark, author Jack Donovan - best known for his underground classic, The Way of Men - explores the common themes in these myths that are still relevant to the lives of men today. Beginning with the simple, primal metaphor of the campfire, Donovan identifies a tripartite system of masculine roles and shows how those roles have been repeated again and again throughout the history of myth and religion.

Power has an appearance and appearance has power. Ideally those two would line up together and the world would be full of good, masculine men who dress and look like good masculine men. But all too often, reality is something different. There are good men and strong leaders out there who dress and look like children or bums. There are awful, lazy men in the world who dress in a way that hides their vices from those around them and makes them appear better than they truly are. In an attempt to correct for these disparities, our current culture tries to rob both appearance of its power and power of its appearance - to say that the way a person dresses or looks doesn’t - or at least shouldn’t matter.

Men have been conditioned to be the quintessential "nice guy". They're trained to be overly humble, kind to a fault, and that just "being themselves" is enough to attract and keep the woman of their dreams. Men are told to believe that conventional masculinity is toxic and to put women ahead of their own interests, passions, and purpose. This book exposes the comforting lies you've been told throughout your life for what they really are, enabling you to become a truly authentic alpha who chases excellence and leads a successful passion-filled life.

Description
Becoming a Barbarian won't teach you how to swing a battle axe or crush your enemies (so that you can see them driven before you and then hear the lamentation of their women).
Becoming a Barbarian is a follow-up to Donovan's cult hit, The Way of Men. Good, modern, civilized Western men today are expected to think like "citizens of the world" - obligated to everyone and no one. Natural, meaningful tribal connections have been substituted with synthetic, disposable consumer identities. Without a sense of who they are and what group they have a place in, modern men are becoming increasingly detached, disoriented, vulnerable, and ever more easily manipulated.
Becoming a Barbarian attacks the emasculated emptiness of life in the modern West and shows men how to think tribally again. It reveals the weaknesses of universalistic thinking, and challenges listeners to become the kind of men who could go all-in and devote their lives to one group of people above all others.
Becoming a Barbarian is about finding a tribe, finding a purpose, and choosing to live the kind of life that undermines the narrative of the Empire.

Great!
Loved it! This ties in nicely with the other two books. I'd recommend getting all three of his books.
Jack has a powerful voice, and sounds passionate about what he is speaking about.

Let the Barbarian in you loose.
Men have evolved as hunter, gatherers. To frequently in today's world men have taken on a role of complacent spectator in their own lives. Jack Donovan explains that your time to conquer life and set out on your own personal conquest to rule your future begins now.

a strange follow up to Way of Men
Way of Men was a great read-- but I found that this sequel took things a little far. There is a feeling throughout that a white nationalist agenda bubbles under the surface. The shout out to Richard Spencer at the end confirmed the suspicion. kind of a bad taste in the mouth there.

Mostly a 4 hour rant.
Some interesting points, but it's mostly a 4 hour rant. Not his best work.
