Story
I never believed in the whole “light at the end of the tunnel” folly where people, after having a near-death experience, would startle awake in a cold sweat exclaiming, “I saw the light!” But there I was, in this so-called “tunnel” facing a glaring light, when the last thing I remembered was sleeping in my room - the royal bed-chamber, as others called it. Had I died? If so, how? King Grey once benefited from unrivaled strength, wealth, and prestige in a world governed by martial ability but now finds himself reborn in a society dominated by magic.

Felix's life on Earth had become a series of dead-end jobs, ruined relationships, and rotating apartments smaller than most postage stamps. By all accounts, even his own, he was a coward. Too afraid to move forward, to take risks. Yet when given the chance to choose between risking his life or walking away from a deadly encounter, he didn't hesitate. Moments before his untimely demise, Felix was snatched from earth and thrust into a magical world known only as "The Continent". In a blink, I found myself in an unknown land, greeted by the textbox of an unfriendly system. It wanted me to become a great hero, save the world, win the love of the people and all that crap. But this new world already had a hero. Why should I bust my ass and deal with dragons and the unknown for people I didn't know? Let him deal with that. It's his job! So instead of being tempted by the system's nonsense, I chose a simple class. Potion maker. I wasn't interested in cultivating mana and defying the heavens, courting death, none of that crap.

Fight, survive, adapt, and rely only on yourself. That is Derek’s creed and what's got him through the System Integration on Earth. Everything changed when the System came. Cute bunnies and beautiful butterflies became savage killing machines. Then the Invaders arrived with a single goal: to obtain ownership of this new habitable planet. War has raged ever since. None of this mattered much to Derek, aside from making living a little more perilous.

Story
Even before Myristal went out, before the battle of the Heavens and the Earth broke out, before the Black General was imprisoned on the Mountain of Skulls, a wizard had wandered the endless expanses of the Nameless World in search of his past and his future. This is the legend of Ash, the Master of a Thousand Words, the Bloody General. What's true and what is fiction is up to you to decide.

Publisher's Summary
Not every human, elf, or dwarf could be equally important to me - that's a fact I accepted long ago. I was here to serve my role and help end this war, not to achieve world peace or save mankind. It was so that I could someday lead a comfortable and happy life with the people I loved and cared for.
Arthur Leywin has experienced two lifetimes of challenge and adventure. He has lived as a swordsman, a mage, an adventurer, and a king. Now his two lives, old and new, will collide, revealing the connection between King Grey and Arthur Leywin, but at what cost?
How will this affect the ongoing war between the nations of Alacrya and Dicathen? Enemy forces threaten the coastal cities, the elven forests, and the fortified mountain passes. Dicathen’s most powerful allies have vanished, and the military alliance between men, elves, and dwarves threatens collapse. Arthur may be the last hope for his people, but when forced to choose between family and country, where will his loyalty lie?

Spectacular eh
This book is great. Nothing more needs to be said. But I will continue because it is so good.
This book was full of amazing battle and you really get to see the characters develop in new and interesting was, some may have been obvious and cliché, they were done so well I don’t really care. Not to mention the emotional cliffhanger.
Travis baldree was phenomenal as always.
Can’t wait to see(hear) more keep it up.
The combination of author and narrator was a match made in heaven.

Very good over all
I've been following this story from the start. I find it brings me and it reels me out. Pulls me in and let's me go. There a nice balance of peeks and valleys with the story line, allowing space to breath from the intense parts and we learn alot more of Arthur's past life in this one

Not bad but frustraging
This book suffers from the same problems as the one before it. It is still an enjoyable read, but now about 50% of the book is either from other's point of view, or a flashback from the MC's past life. I will definitely read this series until the end. However, I am no longer furiously devouring it page by page like I did before. I find myself skimming the chapters on side characters and random enemies. There were 3 or 4 full chapters told from an enemy's point of view that ended up being pointless. I won't go into why, as that would be a spoiler.

Divergence from a good story is more adequate
If you crave a well built world, with progression, an MC that overcomes challenges, grows as a person, and has an overall positive impact on the world around him, then be prepared for massive disappointment! One would think that after so many novels we would be past the angsty indecision’s plaguing a young MC, but no, it’s worst than ever.
The entire book is basically a case study in how to fail at everything you attempt...all while suffering from a debilitating inability to make a choice that would have any sort of positive impact on the world around you...
As a long time fan of the story I think it may be time to shelve this series until I have a chance to read several reviews of the next installment.
It’s just not worth the time spent to follow the MC on his path of self destruction...

Summed up in one word...Meh
I've enjoyed the series so far. This book is just so boring. I had 3 hours left and just couldn't finish it. Nothing really new gets introduced and a lot of it feels like filler content. The characters don't really evolve in this book. The overall feeling is doom and gloom. Maybe something really interesting gets added in the end, but I just cannot get myself to finish it.

Greedy Writing
The author has done an annoying job of hacking up the story and stretching it out for more books. You can/have to skip over a ton of filler that literally does nothing to change how much you know about the story or characters.

Love the series, but this was kinda a filler book.
So, I've obviously read quite a few books in this series which should exemplify that I enjoy the series, in fact, I like it quite a bit! Yet, this entry felt like a filler book. It didn't really advance the overall plot of characters very much at all in it's full 15 hours. It kinda felt like the whole book could have been condensed down into the intro two or three hours of another book, a better book.
It made me feel like the whole story is running out of steam. I hope the 8th book doesn't just try to pad things out. I want a nice tidy wrap up to the big epic I have been enjoying. It would be terrible to have it watered down and thinned out just to keep the franchise going.

Molding the protagonist into hot garbage.
Gray is like that jack of all trades and master of none. His inadequacy coupled with crazed selflessness do more harm to the people he loves than good. It’s infuriating because this seems to be how it is going to be for the next book. It’s been like this for so long I lost count of how many books Gray has been a hot pile of garbage in. Yes, many look up to him. But it’s like standing around a burning trash can in the cold of winter, warming yourself but enduring the stinky fumes.

Not the best book of the serie
Really a struggle to go through this book and finish it. While it is interesting to go through the internal struggle of the protagonist, it is the scrounge of this book. The book felt like an endless whining of character being in powerless situation but still never putting themselves in question.
