About this listen

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

A MOST ANTICIPATED SUMMER READ from People, USA TODAY, theSkimm, E! News, Forbes, New York Post, CrimeReads, and many more!

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Lisa Jewell, three women are connected by one man in this kaleidoscopic thriller.

Hes the perfect man. Its a perfect lie.

Nina Swann is intrigued when she received a condolence card from Nick Radcliffe, an old friend of her late husband, who is looking to connect after her husband’s unexpected death. Nick is a man of substance and good taste. He has a smile that could melt the coldest heart and a knack for putting others at ease. But to Nina’s adult daughter, Ash, Nick seems too slick, too polished, too good to be true. Without telling her mother, Ash begins digging into Nick’s past. What she finds is more than unsettling…

Martha is a florist living in a neighboring town with her infant daughter and her devoted husband, Alistair. But lately, Alistair has been traveling more and more frequently for work, disappearing for days at a time. When Martha questions him about his frequent absences, he always has a legitimate explanation, but Martha can’t share the feeling that something isn’t right.

Nina, Martha, and Ash are on a collision course with a shocking truth that is far darker than anyone could have imagined. And all three are about to wish they had heeded the same warning: Don’t let him in. But the past won’t stay buried forever.©2025 Lisa Jewell (P)2025 Simon & Schuster Audio

Editorial Review

A puzzle worth solving...
Lisa Jewell’s Don’t Let Him In ensnared me from the beginning. From the character interactions that made me want to pull out my hair in frustration to the genuine a-ha moments when things began to click, I was hooked. Following recent widow Nina, mourning daughter Ash, and neglected wife and mom Martha, Don’t Let Him In explores the complexities of these women's relationship with a man that turns out very wrong. Not only do they learn they shouldn't have let him in, it might be too late to avoid what may come crashing down on them. I had almost visceral reactions to the lies told, stories believed, actions ignored. And to put a cherry on top of these well-developed characters, Don't Let Him In is a multi-cast listen performed by top-notch talents like Richard Armitage, Joanne Froggatt, Tamaryn Payne, Gemma Whelan, Louise Brealey, and Patience Tomlinson. —Nicole R., Audible Editor

Already a Lisa Jewell fan but this one was amazing. The performances were incredible, the characters complex and well developed and the storyline riveting. I highly recommend.

Jewell's worst novel to date. The voice acting is great, and (mostly) the characters are fully developed. But sweet baby Jesus this is a plot full of mad holes. If you like saying "well, that would never happen" to yourself continuously for 8 hrs, and if you want a completely ridiculous ending, then this book is for you.

implausible, frustrating ending!

I have read all Lisa Jewell’s books. This one was hard to finish. I was bored.

Not up to Lisa Jewell’s standard

I liked the overall story but found it hard to follow and confusing. Too many names and too much back and forth with the timeline.

Confusing and hard to follow

Confusing and repetitive. Frustrating. Couldn’t keep track of characters or time line. All over the place.

Loved this very eye opening take on how people trust too much and can be manipulated by a seasoned liar even against their better judgement.

Psychopaths gonna psychopath.

It’s a book that was very well narrated and I like the variation in voices. It’s was a slow suspenseful build throughout the book. The book also made me feel like I had to keep listening to find out what was going to happen next.

Great book but definitely a slow build!
