A people’s war

What I got from the book was a very good sense of how the ordinary people not just military people were affected and suffered in this time.
Dan uses lots of quotes from mass observations on what people were thinking and talking about at the time. As he points out in this audible interview we normally read about the war from many different perspectives not a single integrated view. I am anxious to read volume two.
