Sisters. Strangers. Survivors.

More than twenty years ago, Claire and Lydia’s teenaged sister Julia vanished without a trace. The two women have not spoken since, and now their lives could not be more different. Claire is the glamorous trophy wife of an Atlanta millionaire. Lydia, a single mother, dates an ex-con and struggles to make ends meet. But neither has recovered from the horror and heartbreak of their shared loss—a devastating wound that’s cruelly ripped open when Claire’s husband is killed.

The disappearance of a teenage girl and the murder of a middle-aged man, almost a quarter-century apart: What could connect them? Forming a wary truce, the surviving sisters look to the past to find the truth, unearthing the secrets that destroyed their family all those years ago … and uncovering the possibility of redemption, and revenge, where they least expect it.

Powerful, poignant, and utterly gripping, packed with indelible characters and unforgettable twists, Pretty Girls is a masterful novel from one of the finest writers working today.

Included with this gripping thriller is Karin Slaughter’s chilling short story “Blonde Hair, Blue Eyes.”

Good story

Good story. but the beginning of Julia Carroll would have been nice to hear at the beginning and not the end. Didn't have much interest for it in the end. narrator reading the story pronounced her w a little weird which always through me off other wise I would buy another.

Dark, intense story. Well written

This book was morbidly fascinating. So well written and read. Gave me the creeps at times due to graphic nature, but could not stop listening even still. #audible1

Griping

This story really held my attention. Keeps you guessing thru out. The graphic details were upsetting but necessary to the story. Could not stop listening nearing the end. Had to know what happens....

Long

Too long and drawn out. Same descriptions of characters and their shortcomings over and over.

Great book great listen

Overall great book, recommended listen instead of read. The readers “wh” sounds are insanely distracting.

Slow start but really picks up

The book starts off pretty slow at first but once it got going, I found it difficult to put down.

It was also my first Slaughter book so the graphic parts of the book definitely surprised me. Readers that are easily unsettled might want to skip this one.

Incredible. Suspenseful.

I was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole story. Incredibly well written and well told. Quite graphic in some parts, so if you have triggers around rape or violence, I don’t recommend this book. But the story comes around full circle and was worthwhile, even the cringey parts, in the end.

Engaging story and fairly violent

Karin Slaughter captures her characters really well. And Early’s narration is spot on. It is violent but not gratuitously. Unless rape and dismemberment is considered gratuitous...
