Publisher's Summary

The Tournament of the Sacred Sword sounded like exactly the type of thing Keras would enjoy: a series of challenges for thousands of contestants seeking a chance to fight for the Sacred Sword of Earth.

He knew there would be challenges. It wouldn’t be a high-stakes tournament without a few high-profile assassinations and mysterious murders, after all. But Keras wasn’t ready to run into someone from his homeland, and he certainly wasn’t prepared for the revelations that came from their confrontation.

Still reeling from the strange revelations of their meeting, Keras plunges back into the fight, preparing for the battle royale - a massive free-for-all contest outside of the scope of the standard tournament rounds. When the consequences of that match tear at the bonds between his allies, he’ll have to face new challenges alone.

Satoshi Muramasa, the strange swordsman from the distant kingdom of Artinia. Crown Princess Edria Song, the Wielder of Diamantine. Ishyeal Dawnsglow, the Wielder of Soulbrand.

When their blades clash, the heart of the world will tremble.

Extreme Fantasy.

I just can't finish listening to this audiobook series anymore. I find myself doing something I've never done doing when listening to any of my previous audiobook collection. Hitting the fast forward button on multiple occasions to hurry up end this book. Even with 3 hours listening left, I've lost all interest. I understand that this is a fantasy book, but when certain scenarios go overboard with fantasy ideas and then the author continues to layer it on over and over again. It ends up ruining the story from the 2 previous books in this series. Battles now are like every bad guy teleports, has body doubles... triples, quadruples. Single battles are stretched out to extraordinary lengths, lead character has infinite amount of blood and dynamite like explosions just tickle people. Author describes how main character just had an epic battle of his life, he's exhausted beyond belief, but 5min later he's ready to go for another super epic battle with another boss. Huh? Ugh, impossibility after impossibility. Too much fantasy with too little realism.

Better than the previous two

Very entertaining, and the narrator is continuously honing his skills to greater heights. I’ve listened to dozens of audio books and no other narrator has been able to have such a diverse set of voices

A story of a swordsman in a love triangle with a sword and dragon

The story has gotten a little outlandish compared to the other two series. I found myself not caring much for the long fight scenes and enjoying more and more the political subplots. Truly this is just a side story to the arcane accession series as a prequel to the main plots. Overall, great performance and the last third really picks up!

A well written story, would 100% recommend

Ok, so the only thing I didn't like but understood was the amount of Filler stuff there was as the tournament progressed. However, I understood it and appreciated the little side antics and adventures we went on. Overall, this book was awesome! was a pleasure to both read and listen to it on Audible.

Sadly, like all good storytelling, I was left wanting more when it ended. Not sure if I will survive the waiting for the next book to come out. I need MORE! :'(

Some fantastic adventure and interactions!

I found some of the long long battle scenes a bit *too* long but I'll still re-listen again someday. huge fan of this series, and loved the creativity, and item descriptions, and the way they were used in battles creatively. Nick always brings such life to these stories as well!

Amazing as always

Definitely his best work yet! So easy to become lost in the tale. Nick is fantastic as expected and makes it fun and easy to follow along as if you're reading it yourself. Can't wait for the next book!

The best book of the series so far!

These books just keep improving. I really hope it's not 3 years for the next installment. Invested in characters.

Oh MY GOD, you learn so many things in this book.

First of all this book 3rd in the weapons and wielders series wrapped up the sacred sword tournament and there are so many Twists and turns you're not sure where to look. Friends become foes and foes become friends, alliances are made and deadly battles fought. We get some serious back story for lots of different characters including some from other series in this universe.

Of course this series is filled with fights, sparring matches, magical trinkets, tricky maneuvers, sass, and sharp quips and jabs.

Andrew Rowe does an amazing job at building a world (worlds) that are so real you feel what they feel. and Nick Podehl really brings it into 3D Technicolor. the two together are unstoppable.

I can't wait for more of their stories.

amazing world building for an amazing series.

Nick: I honestly look for audio books based on your involvement, and your ability to play multiple characters makes you a treasure.

Andrew: You have created an inclusion army world built of out characters with dimension. There are things in your writing that apply good role models for younger audiences and I hope you know how appreciated that is in a fantasy series.

overall : this isn't my favorite series in this world. yet it still manages to keep me tuned in, interested, and feeds me information on the world. it has some luls, but each one is used to set up another point of action or emotional payoff.
