Into the Spider-Verse was great

I purchased this book for my son who has vision issues that makes tracking words along a sentence difficult. He loves stories and he loves to be able to use his imagination while he is listening to the book. He will act out the story with his stickbots which helps him to comprehend what is being said. He did this the entire story and I had to force him to take a break because he was enjoying the book so much. I give it a definite five stars!

Good, but not great.

Wouldn't be nearly as good if you haven't already seen the movie. many scenes are cut out or changed, and many character arcs suffer due to it being mostly from Miles' POV. it's a great companion to the movie, but it doesn't hold up on its own.

Spider-Verse from Mile's perspective

Into the Spider-Verse adapts the 2018 Sony film into a book format that focuses entirely from Miles' POV, which is honestly disappointing, as the source film is already seen primarily through Miles' POV. We lost a few scenes that Miles was not present for in the movie, such as the Spider's infiltration of the Kingpin's dinner, and, my biggest gripe with this adaptation, we don't see any scenes through the others' eyes. One of the greatest strengths of adaptations is being able to get inside the characters' heads to show exactly their thoughts and feelings, and this book fails to add anything to the narrative.

Adaption: Weaker than the movie. No new information added.

Recommended for: Fans of the Spider-Verse comics and movie.

Overall, 3/5. It's fine...just could've been great.

Great movie adaptation!

It was short, but it was also cheap. I love spider-man and everything marvel, so I might be biased. But it's a great short read, especially with the kids.

Better as just a movie

This just didn't work as audiobook for me The performance was fine.. The way the story played out was just bad. We never hear most of the characters talk. They have very little voice in this book which makes the audiobook weird.

I think they tried to fit the run time of the movie to the audiobook. The problem with that is they left out a lot details that needed to be stated since we obviously can't see it. This would be impossible to follow if I hadn't seen the movie.
