I have loved Tamora Pierce since I was a teenager. This book is one of my favourites of hers. It is so well written and really transports you into the realm of Tortall. I also loved Susan Denaker as the narrator. She did a wonderful job making this book come alive. #Audible1

Exceptional world building. Tammy writes characters that are very relatable, who are deep and multi dimensional. the pacing, the story telling, the plot - all excellent.

I have loved this story since the first day it came out. The naration however could use some work. But still an excellent choice!!!

Cant get enough of this story

Love the characters and story. It had Sherlock meets a fantasy medieval world kind of vibes to it and one I had a hard time putting down. My one criticism is that Beka's breakfasts is overly described, to the point where I almost went back to count. I did however fall in love with this book regardless and was counting the days for my next book credit to listen to book 2. I love Tamara Pierces other books and this was definitely amongst the best of them.
