Once again another amazing book by Andrew Rowe and great acting from Nick Podehl. Now time to relisten to all the books until the next book comes out. Cant wait!

An amazing addition to one of my favourite series. This book both builds on the previous entries wonderfully while setting up significant events for future ones. I cannot wait for the next books. Fantastic work, Andrew Rowe. Fantastic work.

love this series. probably the best series I've listened too. wish they was longer. I seem to binge them far too quick

On the one hand, I very much appreciate Andrew Rowe's complex cerebral magic system.. but you are forgiven if your eyes go blurry during hour after hour of mind-numbing discussions of spellcasting/runecrafting/attunement manipulation/etc while Corin's internal dialogue seems to go on forever: arguing with himself, going over lists of alternatives (with lists of pros and cons for each). Each of a dozen ways of advancing - "color" level status based on Mana pool, enchanted items, divine boons, attunement synergy, sigil-runes, negotiations with contracted summoned beings, etc. - just make this system more and more complex as the characters evolve and Corin & friends get more and more powerful.
There's still quite a bit of very well-choreographed and vividly-described action, but I found this book a bit too system-focused compared to other entries in the 'Arcane Ascension' series.

Fortuitously for fans, reader Nick Podehl is solidly on his game in this recording. His distinctive voice-acting genuinely brings characters to life and his tone is absolutely pitch-perfect. Mr. Podehl still sounds like a 15-year-old, but he's excellent at this. He sounds interested despite reading some of the most boring minutiae you can imagine.

Altogether, I give 'When Wizards Follow Fools' 6 out of 10 stars. The buildup to further apocalyptic war is handled well.. and where are Keras Selyrian & Jin Dalen? On to Book Six.
