You’ve read the headlines, but you don’t know Jamie Lynn Spears. The world first met Jamie Lynn as a child star, when it was her job to perform, both on set and for the press. She spent years escaping into different characters - on All That, Zoey 101, and even in the role as Britney’s kid sister. But as she grew up, faced a teen pregnancy, raised her daughter on her own, pursued a career, and learned to stand on her own two feet, the real Jamie Lynn started to take center stage - a raw, blemished, and imperfect woman, standing in her own power.

How can you stay true to who God has uniquely created you to be in the face of the script you’ve been given? What’s more, how can you stand your ground with grace? Publisher's Summary
Academy award-winning actress, producer, and entrepreneur Reese Witherspoon invites you into her world, where she infuses the Southern style, parties, and traditions she loves with contemporary flair and charm.
Reese Witherspoon’s grandmother Dorothea always said a combination of beauty and strength made Southern women “whiskey in a teacup”. We may be delicate and ornamental on the outside, she said, but inside, we’re strong and fiery.
Reese’s Southern heritage informs her whole life, and she loves sharing the joys of Southern living with practically everyone she meets. She takes the South wherever she goes with bluegrass, big holiday parties, and plenty of Dorothea’s fried chicken. It’s reflected in how she entertains, decorates her home, and makes holidays special for her kids - not to mention how she talks, dances, and does her hair (in this audiobook, you will learn Reese’s fail-proof, only slightly insane hot-roller technique). Reese loves sharing Dorothea’s most delicious recipes as well as her favorite Southern traditions, from midnight barn parties to backyard bridal showers, magical Christmas mornings to rollicking honky-tonks.
It’s easy to bring a little bit of Reese’s world into your home, no matter where you live. After all, there’s a Southern side to every place in the world, right?

A Southern's Lifestyle
This book really depicts the lifestyle of a woman living in the South. I personally wasn't a huge fan of the novel, however I can see how someone who would be interested in this topic would love hearing all of Reese Witherspoon's ideas, tastes, and party antics. She goes into depth on how a southern lady should act, and what brings them joy in life.
I thought this was more of an autobiography of her life, rather than a list of her favourite southern activities, how to host a good party, and small stories of what her grandparents taught her. This truly is all about the lifestyle southern ladies lead, rather than an autobiography on Reese's life.

Such a let down!
I wanted to love this! I am a huge fan of Reese, but this book should have been condensed into a 2 page interview in People Magazine or US Weekly. It has no depth, no real substance, and she narrates in a fake, forced-happiness that comes off as SO phony. You know the overly-bubbly way Elle Woods talks in Legally Blonde? That's what you're going to get with this book. It was such a disappointment!

Not Fun Or Informative If You're Southern
This is just a handbook for someone who wants to be Southern. She talks about the culture and traditions, and I'm not saying she's wrong, I'm just saying everything she's discussing is super basic; if you're from the South, you know it already.
The book wasn't what I was expecting and I was bored.

Lighthearted... yet predictable and clichéd
I really wanted to love this book!! Seriously. I love a good, uplifting story and I think Reese is great. However, if you're from the South, you've probably heard most of these anecdotes and stories before. In fact, some of the tales sound like they're out of Central Casting for Steel Magnolias or Designing Women. Also, the book is really less of a story and more of a non-fluent string of random odds and ends that read more like an etiquette book for relatively privileged people. Overall, it's ok. I really like that the author shared the PDF with all the recipes, etc. I know my opinion isn't a popular one, but I feel these reviews should be honest. I hope others got more out of this book than I did.
