Publisher's Summary

Compelling and straight-shooting wisdom for coping with whatever challenges life throws at us from the New York Times best-selling author of Unfu*k Yourself.

In Unfu*k Yourself, Gary John Bishop taught millions of listeners how to silence the negative, self-sabotaging voice in their head to thrive. In Wise as Fu*k, he expands on his ideas, redefining what it means to be wise and showing how to tackle problems and improve our lives and those of others.

When the storms of life hit us, many of us don’t know what to do - whether it’s losing a job, suffering a broken heart, or just feeling a lack of purpose. We need wisdom to help us navigate forward.

While the internet is full of seemingly good advice, it isn’t helping us actually change our lives. Wise as Fu*k breaks through the bullshit, providing insight to inspire us in the four areas we need it most: love, loss, fear, and success.

Written with his widely admired no-nonsense style, Wise as Fu*k provides a welcome fresh perspective to help us transform how we approach a variety of life’s problems. But Bishop makes clear, the work doesn’t stop there. Now that you’ve unfu*ked yourself and and are wise as fu*k about these touchy areas, you can apply the lessons to make a positive impact on the world.

Could easily be called Wake the Fu*k up

There are several take aways layered in this book, each as significant as the rest. Have a mirror handy, as you’ll have plenty of reasons to look at yourself long and and hard as you absorb the hard hitting truths Gary offers. A definite repeat listen.

Fantastic easy read

I’m no snowflake. This had my eyes watering with self awareness. It’s the kind of thing you need to listen to several times and it will never get old. Well done Gary!

NOTHING NEW

I've listened to his previous 3 books. My favorites were the 1st and 2nd. the 3rd was getting a little stale and this one is no new info.

The brutally honest friend you wish you had

I have read Gary's previous 2 books and enjoyed both of them. Even though I felt it to a great degree in his earlier works, this book felt like it was Gary talking to me personally. Like he had somehow gained access to my thoughts, as if he was watching me through the looking glass.

It was uncomfortable, a lot. I caught myself yelling "fuck" numerous times when he hit me with what I thought was my secret, my darkness, what no one else knew about me. Fucking Gary knows apparently.

A very eye opening read/listen. It has prompted me to buy the physical copy as well so I can have it as a daily reference.

Action, behaviour, responsibility, all the usual suspects are here. It's Gary's delivery, his ability to truly understand what makes people tick that separates him from the pack in this crowded field of "self help". In a world of apologists, liars, conmen, and weakness, Gary might very well be the light at the end of the tunnel.

Highly recomended.

I feel a little bludgeoned but I love Gary.

I have all of Gary’s titles on audible and I’ve listened to them all, more than once. My only concern with WAFL is the last chapter, or actually the last three chapters, seem to run together a little bit.
I’m not sure we needed chapter 12 at all as the making a contribution and “being a player” could’ve been easily immersed in 10 and 11.
But I’m not a writer, he is, and I love his work. I’ve shared a couple audiobooks with my family and I’ve bought this title for my 30-something daughters.
By the way I’m 64 years old retired, and wayy too comfortable. My only saboteur is, myself. Be wise, Brian Mac, Hudson Ohio January 2021.
PS Gary- are you working on teens and pre-teen stuff? I sometimes have to rip my 9 year old granddaughter off the IPad to get to soccer?

Straightforward Leadership

If you have thin skin pass on this author. If you are not offended by cursewords and want a direct approach to strategies for life than read everything Gary puts out. I have and will continue to as he publishes materials. Gary keep up the great work Laddie!

Great book, despite the audio quality

I love GJB's tough love style. Despite calling us out on our bull, he respects the reader and expects more from us.

I really hope they redo the audio. I would hate for new readers to have this book be their first impression of Gary.

Sage!

The subject (YOU/ME) is grounding. Reminds, reinforces, that you are your gatekeeper and are in control of our own futures. Personal responsibility!❤❤❤

Love the content, not the sound quality

If you’ve read his other works, you know what you’re in for and you’ll love it like you have the others. If you’ve never read it, I suggest reading his first book and then returning to this.
My only complaint is the recording quality. It has a high pitch / tin type sound that was actually painful to listen to at times. It sounds amateurish in quality, like the room or mic wasn’t properly prepared or a sound check done. This is unfortunate because the author narrates it well and the content is moving.
