  • Hello and welcome to the Be Better Library podcast series hosted by Evie Manuel and Peter Kerwood. We are incredibly excited to have you listening with us (although Peter is amazed anyone is listening other than his mum and his aunty Sue). 


    In this podcast series, we explore the books that have inspired us. Not only are we talking about the books but we are then exploring around the books. So for each book that we discuss there is an alternative index (a publicly shared Google doc) which you’ll find on our Instagram and LinkedIn. This index will list our favourite sections from our chosen books plus podcasts that feature the author and articles and websites. It’s basically the rabbit hole we would go down every time we talked about a book with all the information in one place. So you will not only find out about the book itself but you will be able to delve into everything we have found around that book. 


    We really hope you enjoy coming on this journey with us as we explore all the books that we have never got round to reading but now we’re forcing ourselves to.

This episode is a bit different. We wanted to put the things we learnt from Viv’s book and podcast into practice, so we recorded the episode in front of an audience on Zoom. As Viv would say, this is a room owning investigation into all the best tips tricks hints and hacks about finding your voice and helping you get ready to own the stage, the boardroom, some horrific Zoom meeting (not ours obviously) or even the space in your own head. However you want to own the room is the right way to own the room its all a question of the guts and quiet confidence to discover what your version of that looks like.

    Priya is a master facilitator trained in the field of conflict resolution. Priya has spent 15 years helping leaders and communities around the world have complicated conversations about community, identity and vision at moments of transition. She is the executive producer and host of the brilliant New York Times podcast, Together Apart and a TED speaker on purpose.


    Priya says: “Gatherings crackle and flourish when real thought goes into them, when an often invisible structure is baked into them, and when the host has a curiosity, willingness, and generosity of spirit to try.”
