  • Episode One: RED/ROOT/396
    Mar 23 2023
At the bank, Jen discovers that her brother left her the key to a car that she never knew he owned. He also left her some odd numbers that she discovers are GPS coordinates for an address in the town of Rockford, Illinois, a place she has never been - but where she and her brother were told that their mother (now deceased) was born. So she decides to take her brother's car and drive to the address. Along the way, she listens to the first of his six recordings, in which he goes into his obsession for certain "Solfeggio" frequencies and their corresponding chakras. Jen thinks this is another manifestation of his madness but she dives in, believing this may help her better understand him and why he took his life. After driving for a day and arriving at the address in Rockford, Jen finds an abandoned house that she believes may have been where her mother was born. She enters the house and finds a dead body. After calling the police, she speaks with a neighbor who knew the home's previous owner, a man named Frank who Jen believes may have in reality been her brother M. But when she continues listening to his voice memo, her brother reveals that he had a twin, Frank, that he never told her about.

    Mar 23 2023
While still in Rockford, Jen calls a medical examiner in New York City to attempt to determine if it was possible that her brother's body was mis-identified, that perhaps it was his twin who took his life and that Mark is still alive. She then returns to the house in Rockford as it is being torn down - and the neighbor shares some things that lead Jenny to believe that her brother M, who suffered from schizophrenia, had fantasized about having a twin who was not real. At the insistence of her boyfriend, Jen decides to return to New York, but when she listens to M's next message, she changes her mind. This message reveals that their father, who they had been told had died when they were young kids, is actually alive and living in Nevada. Jenny looks him up, calls him, and then heads west.

  • Episode Three: GREEN/HEART/528
    Mar 23 2023
Jen goes to a small town in Nevada and meets her father, who she had always thought was dead. He tells her how her mother kicked him out, made up a story about his death, that he had met her brother not long before he died, and, most importantly, that he is not her father after all. She can't quite believe his strange tale and is about to go when he gives her a note from her brother that was meant for her. In the note he has written the name of a place in the middle of the desert: Zyzzyx. When Jen listens to his next voice memo, he explains that a remote spot in the desert is where the Solfeggio frequencies were really coming from, that he could hear them, and he hints that he is there waiting for her. She decides to take the bait and go out to the desert. When her boyfriend questions her mental health and demands she come home, she breaks up with him.

In his fourth recording, M explains more to Jen about the frequencies and their long history. After being pulled over by a highway patrolman who warns her about a strange group of people living in these parts, called the Sonarians, Jen listens to more of M's voice memo. In it, M hints that she should take a "ski trip" in the desert, which makes no sense, but when she gets to a small town she finds a bar called the Ski Chalet. She goes inside and meets an elderly woman named Lola who claims to be a witch and also to have met her brother Mark some time ago. But after having a drink of water at the bar she wakes up alone in a trailer in the middle of the night. She has no idea how she got there.

  • Episode Five: BLUE/BROW/741
    Mar 23 2023
In his next voice memo, M seems crazier than ever, recounting the weird history of the Mojave desert, connecting everything from Satanic literature to the Jet Propulsion Lab to chemtrail conspiracies. Then Lola arrives and tells Jen that she had a lot to drink at the bar - something she has no recollection of - and asks if she wants to go with her to meet the Sonarians and "hear the sounds". Jen goes with them at dawn, hiking out into the desert toward a huge crater. When they get there, Jen attempts to record into her phone and suddenly her phone is forcefully taken away - and so the recording stops. It resumes again at a hospital, we learn that Jen has been in some kind of coma, and she can't see.

  • Episode Six: VIOLET/CROWN/852
    Mar 23 2023
In the final episode, Jen is in a hospital in the desert and records her conversation with a doctor who explains that she was found wandering on a road in the middle of the night, no idea where she was. She recounts what she can remember of her experience at the crater, where she witnessed a group of cult-like people in robes chanting the names of the frequencies and, perhaps, waiting for something or someone to arrive. This is when she saw, she says, her brother. He was alive. The doctor reveals that much of her story doesn't jive with facts and that the drug DMT was found in her blood. So in the end, Jen can't be sure if what happened was real or a hallucination, but it doesn't matter: she connected with her brother, just as he said she would, and is healed. Then Jen listens to his final voice memo, a letter of love to her. She goes back to the crater and tosses his ashes into the wind. Her journey of grief and healing is done. But then we hear a phone message from Jen's ex-boyfriend, wondering where she is, why she disappeared and has not been heard from. He shares that now he too can hear the strange frequencies, coming from the desert, and he's going out there to find her....
