On the track, we can pretend, but we can't outrun our secrets forever.

Taylor

Only two things matter to me in this shitty town: freestyle motocross and my best friend.

They're my only escape from my father's fists, but one slip in junior high almost changed everything. I confessed a secret to a beautiful boy, and I've been punishing him—and myself—ever since.

I can't have Huckslee the way I want, so I take from him in the only way I can—with violence. When my mother wants back into my life, and I'm forced to move in with the object of my obsession, the lines between hate and desire begin to blur. I'm not sure we'll survive each other.

Huckslee

High school is hell when your worst enemy knows your darkest secret.

To everyone else, I'm the perfect son: swim team captain, football running back, and the Bishop's golden boy. But beneath the surface, I'm hiding desires only one person knows—my bully, my tormentor, my crush. And starting tomorrow, my dad is marrying his mom.

Taylor has wielded my secret like a weapon for years, making my life a nightmare. Now, he'll be living right down the hall. Each encounter with him cracks my facade a little more. How long can I wear this mask before it shatters completely?

One of my favourite romance MM’s so far and the narrator performances were incredible! I love both and I think they did a great job on the characters. Can’t wait to read the next one!

Loved it!

This story had the potential for all the feels! I loved the story line and the plot but the feels were only on every other chapter. Emil Archer giving voice to Huckslee was great and did an amazing job at making the angst come alive. But then you get to a chapter narrated by Alexander Cendese and all of that is erased. I’ll be perfectly honestly, it took me months after first coming across this book before deciding to buy it precisely because of Alexander Cendese. He has the ability to make a character sound almost cartoonish and immature that all emotions are taken away from pretty every character I have listened to him voice. Thank god he’s not in Crossing Arizona. That said, I totally loved this story. Bree Wiley is one of my faves. Just sad that she went with Cendese on this one.

Amazing story but epically bad narration.

I absolutely love this story and this entire series! Love Bree, but the narrator for Taylor missed the mark. His narration lacks emotion and angst. If he voiced this softer and less animated, it would have been fantastic. I was hoping so much to love this audio. But I just can’t. If you’re able though, read the book as it’s top tier.

Slow burn, heart wrenching, hot as heck beautiful story. Great narration for Hucks but for Taylor felt like he was reading the words more than telling them. 🔥🔥🔥💛💛

10/10 all the feels

Phenomenal read or listen. I typically don’t enjoy a story based on stacking misunderstandings. As well as the lack of communication but the dynamic of these characters was just so entertaining. Enticing, sexy, adventurous, slow burn romance. The development of the relationship takes genuine time and work to advance and that is something I appreciated about this book. Everything in the plot leads to the development growth of these characters, giving a genuine feel to the relationship. Truly heartfelt and satisfying. By the end, you genuinely wish only happiness for the primary couple. The voice talent for this piece was also fantastic. Brought life and personality to the characters truly bringing out the best in the writing well also offering their own personal flare. Strong recommend for any MM romance lovers. Especially those who like enemies to lovers. And hurt comfort. 12 out of 10 stars.
