Not her best
I really wanted to love this, but it just didn’t happen. Slow and then seemed to fall apart due to far too many (disconnected) things happening. Good narrators tho.

Alice Feeney Wonderful As Always
Alice Feeney has quickly become my favourite author. Her figurative language is surpassed only by her character development and ability to write plots that keep you guessing throughout. I have loved all of Feeney's works and this one did not disappoint. Although some aspects of the story were able to be inferred early in the novel, other twists were completely unexpected. The narration is beautiful and I found myself looking for reasons to put on my audible, just to devour more of this title. I absolutely adored this book. Without spoilers, I saw that some readers found the ending to be disappointing. I thought it was satisfying and evoked a variety of emotions. I have thought of this book repeatedly since finishing it and I am missing many of the characters. Feeney's themes may be camouflaged by the suspense and mystery, but I found this novel relevant, relatable and timely. Well done, Ms. Feeney. Nothing Ugly about this beautiful novel.

Not for murder mystery purists
Just saying, one of the cardinal rules of detective fiction is broken here so adherents to Ronald Knox's 10 commandments need not spend a credit. Richard Armitage is of course an unrelentingly wonderful narrator, so fans of his won't be disappointed by this title if they aren't concerned with the fair play aspect that many of us look for.
