Are you afraid of making decisions...asking your boss for a raise...committing to a relationship...going on an interview...public speaking...facing the future?

Does fear keep you from jumping into life with energy and excitement?

Fear seems to be epidemic in our society. We fear changing plans, we fear staying stuck. We fear failure, we fear success. Whatever your fears, this classic guide will give you concrete tools and insights to improve your ability to handle any situation life throws at you.

Best-selling author Susan Jeffers' timeless teachings live on in this work, based on the same techniques she used in her own life to experience more strength, peace, and joy.

  • Become more assertive
  • Create more love, trust, and enjoyment

Through the process Susan has laid out, you'll discover that fear is simply a fact of life, not a barrier to success. Get ready to take control and move ahead with your life. Feel the fear...and do it anyway!

Misleading Title and a Sporadic Journey

I did not like this book. it started out ok with some helpful talk on dealing with fears and overcoming them. However, the book loses focus and moves on to subject matter that is not relevant to what the reader expects. Very disappointing, I wanted to like this and find some good in this book but there is very little.

Read this 30 years ago. I remember why I loved it!

I read this book first when I was 25. I remember reading it multiple times, and actually giving a presentation on it at a local college and industry group as I was so impressed. I lent it out long ago, and decided to buy it on Audible and listen to it for the first time in a long while. There is such good information in here. I couldn't help but hear myself giving this advice - but I had forgot where it came. Susan Jeffers' ideas were burned into me long ago.
There is great information in here about fear, but possibly even better information about taking personal responsibility in your life - and how liberating that can be. I did my best to follow many of the recommendations in this book, and I'm convinced it has affected my life in a very positive way for the rest of my life.
Don't be afraid! Buy this book! You will not regret it!! If not for you, for someone else who needs it. (Everyone).

Empowering yet gaslighting all at once

Quite unhappy to have spent money on this. The beginning was very interesting, with an interesting premise, but after the first couple chapters, the vibe declines into "acceptance" to the point of self-gaslighting. The shift is very subtle and the book will for sure speak to those who already blame themselves for everything. But the point of the book was supposed to be the opposite.

This book reminded me that for many people, the author included, there is only a fine line between empowerment and the loss of autonomy/agency outside the self. The author crossed it.

If you end up buying the book, be mindful not to fall into the trap proposed by the author to take ownership for 100% of your "experience". There are many tragic paths in life in which one shouldn't be expected to mind-over-matter happy themselves, and this book ignores all of that.

Very Informative

Author Susan Jeffers book is full of golden nuggets. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to her explain what fear really is and how to overcome it. I especially enjoyed the chapter on our higher self. Worth a listen.

Practical advice for overcoming fear and living a better life.
Like all self-help and personal development books, reading/listening is not enough to get results. One must study and put into action.

worth the read

This book was written in the 90's so the context is somewhat off. What is interesting is that the knowledge shared is foundational understanding of terms and concepts that are used in many books now. It is a nice read (listen) not too heavy for outdoor walks.

Struggled to finish

I didn't like how much she talked about divorce. I felt like the most valuable information was in the first few chapters and then I felt as if her personal relationship experiences bleed into the content too much. I'm referring to her own divorce. It really bothered me on how casually she talked about divorcing a spouse, versus working on a relationship with that spouse to create a strong relationship. She just made it seem as if you can just jump in and out of marriages whenever you feel like it. I got the book to personally become a stronger person, not to get relationship advice.

Great book!

This book is great for personal growth. Although the author did not directly relate you "higher self" to God, I was able to place God into that space. Because that is what she means. Stating close to God/ Higher self, you can do anything with out fear. Nothing else can fill that space, only God.

Excellent

Having listened to countless audio programs over the last three decades on the subject of personal development, I would rank this among the best. A lot of great content.

I wanted to like this book, but I didn’t

This book contains far more words than it does actual content. I found myself skipping large chunks of it when the author used too many long-winded stories to illustrate her points. An abridged version could easily get the main points across.

The author’s reading style is matronly, bordering on patronizing, which may be an artifact of the time when this recording was made. There are also jarring, new-agey musical interludes at odd times, which also made me wish that she would just get on with it.

Horrible narrator

This narrator was terrible, such an annoying voice. I couldn't finish listening to her so I just finished reading. Really let down!

Nothing new and the voice is annoying

It was hard for me to finish this one. The performance id annoying and the theme is Just Do It. I understand this is an older book but it needs an update.

This book changed my life

I recently realized how much of a fear-based person I am and this book spoke to everything I’m working on. The authors voice is nice. It’s a little outdated at times with technology but overall applicable to any time in life.
