À propos de cet audio

The immortal sorcerers - three legendary figures that toppled the empire of Xixis. Each has lived for over a hundred years, leaving a powerful legacy in their wake.

But their children do not share their renowned immortality, and when the firstborn son of Edrick Theas is killed, sorceress Lydia Hastings is called to investigate the murder. When she discovers a sorcerous trail left by a creature of unfathomable power, she quickly realizes she needs outside help. And while Jonan Kestrian - a spy for a rival military power - might not be Lydia's first choice for an ally, she knows that he has the knowledge and skills that she needs.

While Lydia and Jonan trace the assassin's trail, Taelien undergoes the Trials of Unyielding Steel, a series of tests to ensure his entry into the Paladins of Tae'os. As he trains for his trials, Taelien faces his fiercest rival yet: Velas Jaldin, a former member of Orlyn's Queensguard with the power to manipulate motion at her whim. With skills far beyond those of an ordinary soldier, the former Queensguard might be the killer that Lydia seeks - or the assassin's next victim.

Good series, very enjoyable to listen too. Nick Podehl is fantastic as always.

I will say that I'm very glad I listened to the Arcane Ascension books first.

I would definitely recommend doing them in that order.

Overall, Andrew has done a great job slowly building the whole universe of his books.

Great! But listen to Arcane Ascension Series First

As a dyslexic, I use RPG'S to help me learn to deal with my invisible handicap. Gaming taught me to utilise reading and writing comprehension, math, and even sociology.
Andrew Rowe's would is full of game mechanics when it come to magic and approaches divine and arcane arts into more of a science. with makes sence in a world that has developed magically. his character's are individuals in there own Wright. he also has a interesting political hierarchy with divine being, half good, and just plain people.
Nick Podell, I feel compliments Andrews world with a wonderful narrative. Clearly articulated and full of expressions.
Thank you all involved in putting this together for the public enjoyment.

Great story for hard core Gamers

This book was thrilling, though I think it suffered a little from middle book syndrome. The world building and adventure are still in high form, and the addition of a murder mystery makes for a great read.

The characters are solid and fairly distinct from one another. All the plot lines and arcs weave into each other by the end, which is explosive.

While there were plenty of action scenes, which meant the book was never dull, I didn’t find the tournament arc compelling. Usually I love them, but I find that it’s mostly padding in second books.

Still, there were some surprises and danger in the climax. The prose is still a lot of telling and explaining, but at least the magic is inventive.

I’m still intrigued enough to read the final book and know what happens. I do think this is a good pick if you’re looking for action-filled fantasy, but just be prepared for a lot of extraneous action scenes.

A Bit Too Much Action

Enjoyed the complexity of the spells, magic as it makes the story more interesting as well as the characters. I look forward to listening to the next addition of this series. Nick Podehl is a great narator.

Entertaining
