  • Ep.24 - Lifing as Late ADHD x Autism Neurodivergent with Vanni Le (@vanni.pack)
    Apr 20 2022

Welcome back to another episode of Asian Lifing! For many Asian American growing up, disability was something that was always shamed or judged upon. There were many stigma around this. In addition, media and representations have not been authentically portraying disability representations and as result, we never had much of a role model or influenced to look up to. We did not have resources or awareness of the disability network or community out there or were exposed to them because it was never really talked about. Even if our parents knew, they wouldn’t understand or would opt to not address it due to the fear, shame, and guilt influenced by the cultural upbringing they grew up with. Since then, times had changed and opportunities to address our cultural upbringing and embracing who we are and our uniqueness became more available. It is up to us to redefine this narrative and share our story to empower and uplift one another. I'm excited to have my awesome boss and friend, the Entertainment Outreach Program Manager at RespectAbility, Vanni Le (@vanni.pack) joining me on this episode as we discussed neurodiversity, our respective late diagnosis with autism (Dennis) and adhd (Vanni) and how our upbringing affected us, disability representations, and our advocacy work at RespectAbility.

Come join us in this fun and engaging conversations about disability and our experiences as Asian Americans! • Ep.23 - Navigating Cultural Identity & Belonging with Chris Nguyen (@trungeats)
    Apr 6 2022

Welcome back to another episode of Asian Lifing! When it comes to one's identity and belonging, it is a topics that hits close to home for many Asian American, marginalized groups, or vulnerable and at risk communities. The common questions among people within a community, group settings, school, or institutions, are how do I fit in, connect with others, or just the feeling of being out of place and questioning yourself if I really belong here or with this group or crowd, or even environment. It can definitely get lonely and confusing, when you feel different from the rest. Joining me on today's episode is my good friend and volunteer bud, Chris Nguyen (@trungeats), as we dive deep into this issue and how we navigate through various communities and groups as we understand ourselves and our identities.

Come join us as we share our experiences and stories to how we navigated and found our sense of identity and belonging within the community and groups as Asian Americans.

    Mar 23 2022

Welcome back to another episode of Asian Lifing! With so much going on in the world and the ongoing pandemic, with the changes happening, mental health has never been more important as it can definitely be a lonely time for a lot of people as they faced many transitions and changes whether it’s in personal life or career. While there are many rapid movements and progression in our society in this unprecedented time, we can get caught up and neglect ourselves.

In this episode, I'll be discussing mental health from the perspectives of Asian American Men, the trauma, and why it matters with my good friend Vincent Ngo (@vincentngooo). As men, we are socially and culturally constructed to be strong and not express emotion, and oftentimes, being vulnerable is seen as weak, but at the end of the day all we want is to be seen, heard, understood, and connected as humans. Come join us in this episode, as we talk about mental health and get into our man feelings as Asian American guys.

  • Ep.20 - Mastering the Self -S2 Finale
    Sep 29 2021

Welcome back to another episode of Asian Lifing and the season 2 finale! Can't believe we have reached the finale for season 2 and 20 episodes later, what a journey it has been full of learning, growing, and evolving this past year. Its also almost been a year since I first began this podcast journey and documenting my life and experiences navigating life with mental health traumas and disabilities as an Asian American guy. There were so many changes and uncomfortable moments through this process and navigating life that contributed to my evolution and personal growth that I am proud of. There were many lessons I have learned through life and am still going through this process of adapting and constantly learning and evolving as I go. Life is challenging, but with the right approach and mindset, I believe we all can get to a place where we can all thrive! As we all go through life with each of our own personal journeys, we can often get lost and confused about who we are and what we are meant to do that clouded our judgment and existence on earth, whether it is due to our circumstances, disabilities, opinions of others, our parents, what society have framed us to believe, or what success may even look like. All of this can be overwhelming and we are left navigating life with negative thinking patterns, comparison, forcing things, and rushing the process, and not letting things unfold naturally. These factors should not dictate who we are or the life that we want to live. We are the protagonist of our own lives and we need to remember that.

Come join me on this episode as I guide you through tools and tips that have helped me stay grounded and be my own protagonist on this journey in my life and how you can do the same by taking back control of it and live your best life starting now, as the protagonist of your own story!
