  • #90 Bulletproof No More: The Crash That Built A Coach
    Apr 30 2025

    Send us a text

On this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast, I’m joined by Austin Page, the founder of GymFlow Coaching—fitness coach, mindset mentor, and living proof that rock bottom can be the foundation for your biggest comeback. We dive into Austin’s wild, raw, and brutally honest story that starts in a small Virginia town with a cycle of partying and ends with titanium-filled legs, a shredded six-pack (eventually), and a whole new lease on life.

Austin walks us through the night that changed everything—Mother’s Day 2010—when a car crash after a party landed him in the hospital with crushed legs, sepsis, and a giant black hole in his stomach (yes, literally). What followed was six weeks in the hospital, three months in a rehab center, and a whole lot of mirror moments that forced him to ask: "How the hell did I get here?" and more importantly, "What am I going to do about it?"

From curling Gatorade bottles in a wheelchair to building a coaching empire, Austin takes us step-by-step through how he built his body, mind, and life back with grit, consistency, and a whole lot of sweaty gym sessions. We talk about the power of small wins, creating a new identity one rep at a time, and asking yourself—what would your future self do?

Austin also shares his thoughts on mental toughness, why we’re not meant to live a stress-free life (ugh, if only), and how controlling the controllables can change everything. Whether you're currently stuck in a comfort zone or crawling your way out of one, this episode is a masterclass in how adversity can shape you—if you let it.

So, if you’ve ever felt like you were spiraling, stuck, or just tired of your own BS—this one’s for you. Austin is the reminder that we are not our worst moments, but what we choose to do after them.

And remember—we’re only as good as the example we set. It’s not about what we say, it’s about what we do. Thanks for tuning in, and as always—keep it messy. 💪✨

  • #89 Managing Expectations in a "Messy" World
    Apr 23 2025

    Send us a text

In this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast, I’m diving deep into the world of expectations—yep, the ones we put on ourselves and the ones everyone else seems to throw our way the second we decide to prioritize our goals.

Let’s be real—sticking to fitness or wellness goals or even financial goals sounds amazing on paper. Until real life steps in with a pile of laundry, a slammed calendar, and someone asking, “What’s for dinner?” when you just sat down to rest. Whether you're juggling work, family, or just the mental load of keeping it all together, the pressure can feel overwhelming. So how do we hold on to our goals when life gets loud and messy?

I break this conversation into three parts: first, how to stay committed to the promises we’ve made to ourselves especially when it comes to self-care. Then, we get into the chaos—distractions, guilt, and that fun little voice in your head telling you to just quit already. I’ll share strategies that have helped me push through the noise without shame or burnout. And finally, we talk boundaries—the loving, firm kind that protect your peace without losing your softness. Because guess what? You can be strong and gentle with yourself. It’s not one or the other.

If you’ve ever struggled with setting a goal and watching it slip away under the weight of everything else, this one’s for you. Grab your sparkling water, and maybe a journal—because this episode might just be the permission slip you didn’t know you needed.

If today’s episode hits home, make sure to go back and check out last week’s convo on hidden triggers that may be contributing to autoimmunity ailments. Check out the free PDF guide about finding the hidden triggers. And hey, I created a free guide to help you stay grounded in your goals, journal through the chaos, and set boundaries without burnout for this episode. You can snag both on my website under Resources or tap the link in bio!

Let’s keep showing up for ourselves, even when life gets loud. One messy moment at a time 💛

    Send us a text

In this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast, a powerful and deeply reflective episode, Australian coach, musician, and former teacher Ash Perrow shares the moment that changed everything—a near-death experience during back surgery in 2016 that left him clinically close to death. What began as a medical emergency became the catalyst for a complete life overhaul, sparking a journey into self-discovery, consciousness, and authentic living.

Ash opens up about the ripple effect of this experience—how it exposed his pattern of living like a martyr and taught him to trust his intuition. From ending a long-term relationship to walking away from a 22-year teaching career, he embraced a new path that aligned with his heart. Today, Ash supports others as a personal and business coach, helping them tap into their inner resilience, intuition, and sense of purpose.

Through raw honesty and moments of levity, Ash reminds us that we are conscious beings temporarily inhabiting a body—and that the scariest thing we often face is the very thing that might set us free. • #86 Mobsters, Meditation, & Miami: Bob Martin's Wild Ride To Inner Peace
    Apr 2 2025

    Send us a text

On this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast, I’m joined by Bob Martin JD.,MSW., CMT —a truly unforgettable guest whose life story reads like a movie script. From growing up in a carnival atmosphere to playing football and then somehow finding his way into law school after taking an aptitude test on a whim, Bob's path has been anything but ordinary.

We dive into his wild ride through Miami’s infamous Cocaine Cowboy era, where he worked alongside Janet Reno and crossed paths with mob-connected clients in the thick of the 1980s drug trade. The stories he shares are intense, eye-opening, and sometimes downright jaw-dropping.

But Bob’s journey doesn’t stop there. A therapist introduced him to Taoism and meditation, which sparked a powerful spiritual awakening. That moment of self-discovery completely changed his perspective on life, law, and purpose. He later met a Taoist master who helped him deepen that path, leading him to become a guide for others in the realm of mindfulness and self-awareness.

We also talk about how he and his wife navigate their different spiritual beliefs with love, curiosity, and respect—proof that interfaith understanding is possible and even enriching. Bob’s approach to meditation is grounded, accessible, and refreshingly real. He busts some common myths and offers simple, powerful advice for anyone looking to get started.

This episode is packed with wisdom, transformation, and a few surprises along the way. Bob’s story is a beautiful reminder that life is full of unexpected turns, and sometimes, the most chaotic beginnings lead to the deepest peace. You don’t want to miss this one.

We dive into her story, starting with her early days in retail management where she climbed the ladder fast, all while juggling life as a single mom. • #84 Beyond Medication: Dana Kay's Holistic Approach To ADHD
    Mar 19 2025

    Send us a text

In this eye-opening episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast, I sit down with Dana Kay, a board-certified health practitioner and ADHD expert, to dive into her incredible journey of helping children with ADHD thrive—without solely relying on medication. Her story is one of transformation, from a corporate career to a passionate advocate for families navigating neurodevelopmental challenges.

Dana’s path took an unexpected turn when her son was diagnosed with ADHD at just four years old. At first, she felt relieved to have an answer, but she quickly realized that medication wasn’t the complete solution. That’s when she began digging deeper, discovering that ADHD symptoms often stem from underlying health issues, particularly gut health. With 95% of serotonin and 50% of dopamine produced in the gut, the connection between digestion and brain function became impossible to ignore.

One of the biggest game-changers for Dana was diet. She learned that inflammatory foods like gluten, dairy, soy, artificial flavors, colors, and processed foods were fueling the fire. By eliminating these triggers, she saw remarkable changes—not just in her son, but in countless other children she’s worked with.

Dana explains this process using a simple but powerful analogy: Everyone is born with a metaphorical "trash can." The goal isn’t to keep it spotless but to prevent it from overflowing. By reducing inflammatory inputs and supporting detoxification, the body can function at its best.

But food is just one piece of the puzzle. Dana shares a holistic approach to ADHD management that includes nutrition, movement, sleep hygiene, and stress reduction. Exercise plays a crucial role in detoxification, neurotransmitter balance, and reducing ADHD symptoms. And while her strategies are life-changing for children, they’re just as effective for teenagers and adults.

Dana is the first to say that there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. While she’s passionate about natural approaches, she recognizes that medication has its place, especially in crisis situations. Her advice to families is to start small. Change doesn’t happen overnight, but an 80/20 approach—focusing on sustainable, realistic lifestyle shifts—can make a world of difference.

Dana’s work through the ADHD Thrive Institute and her book Thriving with ADHD offer families the guidance they need to take action. She also hosts Soaring Child, a podcast dedicated to this journey.

And as she reminds us—Rome wasn’t built in a day. Take one step at a time, and healing will follow.
