  • But There Was Also Joy (with guest, my cousin, Rachel Helten part 1)
    Aug 28 2025

In this episode, I talk with my cousin Rachel Helten, and we talk about our perspectives on the feeling of joy. Rachel isn't an Irish dancer, but rather an amazing contemporary dancer. We bonded quickly because of our shared love for dancing and because of that, I have grown to trust her with a lot of my stories that wounded me from the dance world.

I hope there is some wisdom, joy and healing to be gained from this conversation <3

  • My Rumination Problem (with guest, my friend, Richard)
    Aug 28 2025

In this episode, I talk with my friend Richard who is a Psychology student, studying for his PHD and in this conversation we talk about rumination.

I honestly didn't intend for this conversation to be apart of my Irish dance story, but alas, I couldn't help but see my former competitive Irish dancer self in everything that Richard was talking about.

Nerves were always a problem for me in competition. At dance class, I'd always feel more comfortable and safe. Do I dare say, that maybe my dancing level was top tier when I was at the studio. But when it came to getting to the stage at a competition, I was... how the young people say "cooked". I loved learning more about rumination with Richard and I hope this conversation helps you in someway, too.

  • Disappointment Can Be Dangerous
    Aug 28 2025

In this episode, I talk about how my ignored feelings of disappointment built upon itself and led to feelings of wanting to take my own life. I use the book, Atlas of the Heart by Dr. Brene Brown, to help me give find the language to better understand what I was going through.

Disappointment is usually treated like a minor feeling that should "roll off your back". But, my feelings of disappointment compounded so intensely for me that I fell into my first darkest moment of my life.

This is a hard story for me to tell and I can still hear in my voice how emotional it was for me.
