Founders at Work: Stories of Startups' Early Days is a collection of interviews with founders of famous technology companies about what happened in the very earliest days. These people are celebrities now. What was it like when they were just a couple friends with an idea? Here at the MSAC Philosophy Group, we felt it would be valuable to take a selection from Müller's autobiography, which focuses on his early days at the University of Oxford, and publish it in a separate volume. It is a delightfully engaging listen, and I think it serves as a nice introduction to the life and work of this most productive of Indian scholars. Professor David Christopher Lane has chosen and edited the selection. Also included is a brief introduction to the life and work of Max Müller, with a particular focus on his 50 or so years at Oxford.

The author James E Smith (1832 - 1893) served during the Civil War as Captain and commander of the 4th New York Independent Volunteer Light Artillery battery. Early Days in the Black Hills with Some Account of Capt. Jack Crawford was originally published in 1892 and features several of his adventures in the early Black Hills gold rush. It also deals with the legendary John Wallace (Captain Jack) Crawford (1847 - 1917), known as "The Poet Scout". Crawford was an American adventurer, educator, and master storyteller about the Wild West.
