Story
I’ve been in this life for 50 years, been trying to work out its riddle for 42, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last 35. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me.

Story
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Tiny Changes, Remarkable Results
No matter your goals, Atomic Habits offers a proven framework for improving - every day. James Clear, one of the world's leading experts on habit formation, reveals practical strategies that will teach you exactly how to form good habits, break bad ones, and master the tiny behaviors that lead to remarkable results.
If you're having trouble changing your habits, the problem isn't you. The problem is your system. Bad habits repeat themselves again and again not because you don't want to change, but because you have the wrong system for change. You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems. Here, you'll get a proven system that can take you to new heights.
Clear is known for his ability to distill complex topics into simple behaviors that can be easily applied to daily life and work. Here, he draws on the most proven ideas from biology, psychology, and neuroscience to create an easy-to-understand guide for making good habits inevitable and bad habits impossible. Along the way, listeners will be inspired and entertained with true stories from Olympic gold medalists, award-winning artists, business leaders, life-saving physicians, and star comedians who have used the science of small habits to master their craft and vault to the top of their field.
Learn how to:
- Make time for new habits (even when life gets crazy)
- Overcome a lack of motivation and willpower
- Design your environment to make success easier
- Get back on track when you fall off course
- And much more
Atomic Habits will reshape the way you think about progress and success, and give you the tools and strategies you need to transform your habits - whether you are a team looking to win a championship, an organization hoping to redefine an industry, or simply an individual who wishes to quit smoking, lose weight, reduce stress, or achieve any other goal.
What the critics say
"Atomic Habits was a great read. I learned a lot and think it’ll be helpful to a lot of people." (Gayle King, co-anchor of CBS This Morning and editor-at-large for O, The Oprah Magazine)
"In Atomic Habits, Clear will show you how to overcome a lack of motivation, change your environment to encourage success, and make time for new (and better) habits." (Glamour.com)
"Atomic Habits is a great book for anyone who is frustrated with the way they can’t seem to kick that one (or two dozen) bad habit(s) and wants to finally achieve health, fitness, financial freedom, great relationships, and a good life." (Medium.com)

An actually actionable self help book.
Don't think of this a self help book.
Here's why:
It doesn't drag out the same points over and over again.
It doesn't give you examples of super humans achieving super feats.
It doesn't give you a formula for success
It's not trying to "inspire you" that's BS and we all know it.
The recommendations are actionable. They're not weird either. Unfortunately, for the most part, we are the summation of our habits. Changing those habits....
Making the changes described in this book won't be trivial either. But there are some quick hits you can apply right away. It's a horrible cliche but you might call them "life hacks".
Now having used that phrase I'm going to put my head in the toilet bowl and start flushing.

READ THIS BOOK NOW. LIKE, NOW!!
Excellent on many levels.
Habits and structure aren’t the sexiest things in the world. And after years of indoctrination, I found myself polarized from anything that felt restrictive.
What I am coming to know, greatly due to this book, is that my human brain can always be rewired. No matter how unsexy structure can seem, it IS the way for us to thrive.
It is in creating containers that we can flow freely through life. And maximize its level of quality.
Hugely recommended.

The ultimate 'how to change your life' manual.
This book complements my other favourite book 'The Power of Habit' by Charles Duhigg.
While 'The Power of Habit' answers the 'how' and 'why' of habit change and accompanies research, 'Atomic habits' shows us how to apply these changes with much needed everyday examples.
This book is basically a much needed sequel to the above mentioned book, complete with an instruction manual on how to initiate and stick with habit changes, along with other resources for a common person.
I'm glad I bought it and heard it start to finish.

What a piece of s...t
What a pain in the but.
In order to receive any of the ancillary material you can't "just go to Atomic Habits.com and download" - you have to provide a receipt, which Amazon does not provide in any common/obvious format.
Why can't this be simple? Why should we have to work at it? Why shouldn't it come with the damn download? Where the hell is the usability and commonality that the technology morons were supposed to be bright enough to provide?
I'm completely underwhelmed - Again!
This is the last month Audible/Amazon gets another dime.

Good Actionable Content
This was a decent follow up to Charles Duhigg's The Power of Habit but not as engaging to me.
What Clear lacks, by comparison, in the narrative space he makes up for with an actionable approach.
This is a decent investment for the time required. I would suggest reading Duhigg first.

Insightful, practical, fresh, and potentially transformative
I am only about halfway through this book (just bought it yesterday), but I couldn't help put in at least a partial review. I absolutely LOVE reading this! James Clear has a phenomenal understanding of human behavior, and specifically how our habits define our identities. For me personally, he has offered a completely new way for me to understand WHY I continue my bad habits when in my head, I know they're bad, and why I find it so difficult to start good habits. Furthermore, he offers very specific strategies for how to change those habits so I can make myself into the person I know I should be. It's not about "will power," "motivation," "perseverance," or any of those traits we so often attribute to people who kick bad habits and start good ones. Instead, it's all about behaving in a way most consistent with the person we wish to be.
As James Clear says, our habits are actually neither GOOD nor BAD. Instead, they are either consistent or inconsistent with our desired identities. If I see myself as a healthy and successful professional and happy father and husband, then I have to closely examine each of my current habits and ask myself if those behaviors are consistent with how I'd like to identify myself. If they are not, then I need to modify those habits. The specifics of how to go about doing that is where I am in the book now. I'll update this review in a few weeks (or maybe months), after I have finished the book and had a chance to try out the strategies. But for now, I feel like I'm having an epiphany, and I haven't felt this way about a book since...well...ever. Amazingly, after one day of reading only half of his book, Mr. Clear, a man who doesn't know me at all, has shown me more about my own behavior than any psychologist or therapist I've ever met in my lifetime.

It starts with definitions from the dictionary.
That is all you need to know to infer that the quality of the rest of the writing is sophmoric.

start here, if you are looking to achieve in life
I'll state this, this book should be read, then studied. I'll probably read this book twice a year until my life habits are conducive to the life I desire to live. many times we try to change but life gets in the way. the author provides a framework to overcome the mental aspect towards establishing the habits you want.

Motivational and very well-structured book!
I genuinely enjoyed listening to this audiobook. (which also happened to be my first) Although English is not my first language, I found the reading by the author very clear and well-structured. I also find it very easy to navigate.
As an eternal procrastinator, this book offered me a fresh perspective on habits and their power that I didn’t truly realize. What I like the most about this book, is how action-oriented it is. It is full of tips that everyone can apply immediately in their daily life.
The only negative part is that I didn’t find the pdf resources the author mentioned in the book. Else it is great!! I feel motivated to put some of the advice of the author into practice. 😊

The power of #habits
In this book, the author shows that becoming and epic performer relies less on an innate hability of doing things better than others. instead, if one can identify a field in which they are ready to invest time energy and all, they will become so good that they can't be ignored. the secret of it all relies on sticking to the right habits and building them over time and also getting rid of the wrong ones.

Nothing new
If you have read many other self development books before this one, you most likely will not learn anything else. However, I think it is a very hood guide for newcomers.
