About this listen

The manhunt has officially begun.

Now the target of a game-wide Holy War, Ned is forced to flee the Onyx Sands.

The odds are stacked against him; Tyrann has tens of thousands of followers, a religion that’s spreading like wildfire, and a powerful god that will be stepping into the world of EBO in a matter of days.

Meanwhile, Ned’s allies are a squirrel-exploding bard, a repurposed home security system who takes her instructions far too literally, and a wildly unreliable talking axe named Frank.

But even as the inevitable conflict draws closer, change is coming to EBO. An old power is stirring, bringing with it strange new enemies, fearsome challenges, and rewards that every player will be vying to obtain.

There will be blood.

Not enough for Frank, but a very substantial amount.

awesome book

Just like the first, absolutely rediculous, but the characters are all great and I love listening to them bicker.

funny and entertaining

I was concerned when the book 1st came out that it was just gonna be another ad on dungeon crawl kind of thing, but it really picks up near the end and it Leaves itself open for a 3rd book which I would be excited to read

Amazing story, very funny

I love this story. Voice acting was great too. The MC has definitely been growing as a person, and so has Frank (partially). The character interactions are nuanced and very funny. I think for the EBO game developers to be freaking out so much, that they must have not been doing a good job if it was so easy to 'break' stuff so quickly. With millions of players and thousands upon thousands going through any given scenario, of course someone is going to do it in an odd and unexpected way, especially with the knowledge that you can and something unexpected may happen.

I do think that Ned should make a video with Frank and set the record straight about a lot of the rumours going around. He could explain the situation about the World Tree and the Wood-bone Fae, and he could tell anyone they could go ask the Fair Folk king or Royal Guards or any number of other Fair Folk and they'd back up his story.

Also he should be recording all his interactions with Kieran(not sure on the spelling), and call out all his lies (About the 5 people Ned killed instead of 10, he could show the video, about Ned's level, about the Tithing situation, and the lie about spawning the god), which should show that Kieran only made the cult for personal power to make people help him get the Axe. And that Kieran's level/renown/money advantage was because he was using the Religion Renown perks as an engine, and skimming 20% off the top of everyone's money. I'm curious if he can just restart another Religion, or loses his whole renown path and needs to start again. If so he'll probably end up going Conqueror. Either way Ned needs to watch out. Though killing Kieran and looting his body probably would have given Ned a few Platinum is my guess. People may want to put their money in a Bank.

Show everyone Frank's stats, and even some recordings of Frank. Let me people know that Frank can only give him knowledge restricted on not only his own level, but stuff he has access to, and doesn't give out information on fights/encounters/dungeons/raids etc... Even mention how Frank was altered specifically to spite Ned and not like anything he liked from the get go. Ned could also say that he didn't hoard the headstart period to himself, and that the Guild he is part of got the rest of the pods. Sure people are upset that they didn't get them, but there were only ever 50 of them, so people were always going to be upset no matter who got them. And this way Ned seems like less of an jerk because he didn't just keep it all for himself. Ned should host a stream everyday with Frank (Frank would love that), and then Frank can talk to people, they could take calls and call it "Frank's advice corner" or something. At this point now that they're out in the open, Ned could lift the Streaming restriction. If they're in a raid people can't really Ambush them. They could at least make recordings and post them afterwards if they're not going to do it live.

I'm pretty sure Ned could befriend Goon... they seem like Frank's sort of people. So Frank would give them knowledge super willingly.

I'm also sad that Ned hasn't done any of the Black market stuff, or summoned the Black Market NPC's for his Auction house yet. I was hoping he would get a chance to do that.

All in all I'm looking forward to the next book quite a bit, I hope I won't have to wait forever. I would highly recommend this. Considering another raid with World First options is on the table, and it's only in their area. I'm guessing the Guild is going to have to go for it. Which is crazy, because they just did a back to back raid, then god killing. And only a few minutes have gone by. The rest of the Guild was probably trying to get drunk and now they'll realize they have to run off to another raid ASAP, because all the other raiding guilds will be heading in their direction. That's going to be a LONG day. lol. I think Ned is going to have to pay some salaries again.

It feels like playing Guild Wars 2

I liked this book better than the first and that's saying a lot! Frank the wisecracking axe is back and snarkier than ever. The world building is rich and many of the characters (even the side ones) are interesting and memorable. I feel as if the author was inspired by Guild Wars 2 because that's what listening to this audiobook feels like, it seems like some of the classes are GW2-like and the rift events remind me of the fractals from GW2. I also like the way the player characters talk to each other in combat which reminds me of playing with a good group (e.g. Pop your cooldowns, burn the adds, etc) I've listened to a lot of gamelit and this is already one of my favorite series.

Fantastic character layout and well written

Want the next book soon.
This definitely has the same feel as my other favourite book line, Expeditionary Force. So I’m glad to have more books written in the ways that is fun and enjoyable.
Keep on writing.

Hooks You In and Frankly quite Funny.

It is rare to find a treat like this book series. It weaves a great tale, peppers it one line zingers that are hilarious when they hit and forgivable groaners when they don't.
You find yourself rooting for the good guys be it boy or girl.
The story progression is well paced and leaves hints to what's next without giving away the farm.

No horrible cliffhangers to greed you into buying the next book, You will do that on your own without that old trick.

Sadly We have to wait for the next book to get our next dose of hellafun.
