Here, anthropologist David Graeber presents a stunning reversal of conventional wisdom: He shows that before there was money, there was debt. For more than 5,000 years, since the beginnings of the first agrarian empires, humans have used elaborate credit systems to buy and sell goods - that is, long before the invention of coins or cash. It is in this era, Graeber argues, that we also first encounter a society divided into debtors and creditors.

Communication should be clear and concise, and we should get to the point quickly. The problem is we don’t always know how to do this. What does it mean to be concise? How can a complex topic be summarized in just a few lines? This award-winning book is a step-by-step guide for clear, concise communication in everyday work conversations. Being concise is not about trying to condense all the information into 60 seconds. It is about having clear intent, talking about one topic at a time, and focusing on solutions instead of dwelling on problems.

Innovation is the main event of the modern age, the reason we experience both dramatic improvements in our living standards and unsettling changes in our society. Forget short-term symptoms like Donald Trump and Brexit, it is innovation itself that explains them and that will itself shape the 21st century for good and ill. Yet innovation remains a mysterious process, poorly understood by policy makers and businessmen, hard to summon into existence to order, yet inevitable and inexorable when it does happen.

The father of three sons, a journalist, and a Brookings Institution scholar, Richard V. Reeves has spent twenty-five years worrying about boys both at home and work. His new book, Of Boys and Men, tackles the complex and urgent crisis of boyhood and manhood. Reeves looks at the structural challenges that face boys and men and offers fresh and innovative solutions that turn the page on the corrosive narrative that plagues this issue. Of Boys and Men argues that helping the other half of society does not mean giving up on the ideal of gender equality.

Description
For fans of Freakonomics and Thinking, Fast and Slow, here is a book by Hans Rosling, the scientist called "a true inspiration" by Bill Gates, that teaches us how to see the world as it truly is.
Factfulness: The stress-reducing habit of carrying only opinions for which you have strong supporting facts. When asked simple questions about global trends - what percentage of the world's population live in poverty; why the world's population is increasing; how many girls finish school - we systematically get the answers wrong. So wrong that a chimpanzee choosing answers at random will consistently outguess teachers, journalists, Nobel laureates, and investment bankers.
In Factfulness, professor of international health and global TED phenomenon Hans Rosling, together with his two longtime collaborators, Anna and Ola, offers a radical new explanation of why this happens. They reveal the ten instincts that distort our perspective - from our tendency to divide the world into two camps (usually some version of us and them) to the way we consume media (where fear rules) to how we perceive progress (believing that most things are getting worse). Our problem is that we don't know what we don't know, and even our guesses are informed by unconscious and predictable biases.
It turns out that the world, for all its imperfections, is in a much better state than we might think. That doesn't mean there aren't real concerns. But when we worry about everything all the time instead of embracing a worldview based on facts, we can lose our ability to focus on the things that threaten us most. Inspiring and revelatory, filled with lively anecdotes and moving stories, Factfulness is an urgent and essential book that will change the way you see the world and empower you to respond to the crises and opportunities of the future.

I thought it was boring at first
though i thought i was very boring at first with his monotone voice, it got more and more interesting. There were many moments when I felt so touched by his story of the villages, his mistakes and how he's learned a life lesson. Hans was truly a great man.

Insightful And Informative!
That was a thoroughly enjoyable audiobook. It made me realize that many of the beliefs of the world that we have may be wrong, and that it is best to question them through research and study. It also made me aware of the fact that many things in our world are improving, instead of getting worse.

Great human understanding!
It was great to listen, its incredible the many times when, the author openly shared about his mistakes. I love this from Him, because it helps me to learn from his leadership model. I will stand on His ground and yet he will recognize that he need it to keep learning from others.
I love the book.

An excellent book for everyone!
This book will definitely open your eyes to facts about the world you thought you knew but for surely don’t. The media and news outlets try to scare us into thinking the world is just as bad as it was 50-70 years ago and it’s worked. In this book you will learn that not only are those outlets wrong but also facts you think you confidently know, are also wrong. This book is great and I recommend it to everyone, kids, adults, elders, CEOs or regular folk stocking shelves. It’s a very eye opening book and the reader did an excellent job.

A better way to view the world
This book has changed the way I now view the world. What Hans, Anna, and Ola were able to create is really eye opening. The way all of the facts are interspersed with stories from Hans life, is really eye opening and the way he can reflect on his mistakes and how he has changed is really different and good. #Audible1
