What is it that keeps us from asking for what we want? So often, the things that we want in our lives elude us for one very surprising (and deceptively simple) reason. We don't ask for them. From a higher salary... to a better bargain... to a little more help around the house, there are all sorts of desires that we harbor but never achieve, when the fact is, we haven't taken the most important step of all.

Life isn’t about “finding” fulfillment and success - it’s about creating it. Why then has creativity been given a back seat in our culture? No longer. Creativity is a force inside every person that, when unleashed, transforms our lives and delivers vitality to everything we do. Establishing a creative practice is therefore our most valuable and urgent task - as important to our well-being as exercise or nutrition. The good news? Renowned artist, author, and CreativeLive founder, Chase Jarvis, reminds us that creativity isn't a skill - it's a habit available to everyone.

In The Serendipity Mindset, Christian Busch explains that serendipity isn't about luck in the sense of simple randomness. It's about seeing links that others don't, combining these observations in unexpected and strategic ways, and learning how to detect the moments when apparently random or unconnected ideas merge to form new opportunities. Busch explores serendipity from a rational and scientific perspective and argues that there are identifiable approaches we can use to foster the conditions to let serendipity grow.

Publisher's Summary
Discover the transformative effects of being kind to yourself
"This brilliant book offers us both the science and practice of how self-kindness is the secret sauce of fulfillment, transformation, and joy." (Lorin Roche, meditation teacher and author of The Radiance Sutras)
Many of us yearn to feel a greater sense of inner calm, ease, joy, and purpose. We have tried meditation and found it too difficult. We judge ourselves for being no good at emptying our minds (as if one ever could) or compare ourselves with yogis who seem to have it all together. We live in a steady state of "not good enough". It does not have to be this way.
In Good Morning, I Love You, Dr. Shauna Shapiro brings alive the brain science behind why we feel the way we do - about ourselves, each other, and the world - and explains why we get stuck in thinking that doesn’t serve us. It turns out that we are hardwired to be self-critical and negative! And this negativity is constantly undermining our experience of life.
"It is never too late to rewire your brain for positivity - for calm, clarity, and joy," writes Dr. Shapiro. "I know this is possible because I experienced it. Best of all, you can begin wherever you are." In short, lively chapters laced with science, wisdom, and story, Shapiro, one of the leading scientists studying the effects of mindfulness on the brain, shows us that acting with kindness and compassion toward ourselves is the key.
With her road map to guide you, including her signature "Good Morning, I Love You" practice, in which you deliberately greet yourself each day with these simple words, you can change your brain's circuitry and steady yourself in feelings of deep calm, clarity, and joy. For good.

Very helpful and insightful! life changing!
Ive always been interested in the practice of meditation and mindfulness, but I always felt that I lacked motivation or meaning when practicing it. this audible helped me understand how those practices can be applied on more specific/concrete examples. I love how she explain the importance of 1) intention 2) attention 3) attitude. Also there are many great simple exercises. The exercises are not always "fun" because it sometimes forces us to recall not so great memories, but I like how she guides us gently in those exercises and shows us the importance of facing those difficulties. I didn't feel any pressure or jugement about facing those thoughts, it really feels like I'm sharing them to a wise and kind friend who then comforts me and helps me feel okay with what has happened.

Eureka! Thars gold in this book.
Good morning, I love you adroitly dovetails mindfulness and self-compassion into a sturdy nest to lay one's heartmind. The content is a well-constructed weaving of research, storytelling, and meaningful practices relevant to everyday life. The invitations to reflect upon and identify gold nuggets (golden eggs) and to write them in a journal at the end of each chapter is a helpful process. The narration is also easy on the ears. It will be worthwhile to listen to repeatedly.

Good morning I love you
I wish I could have Shawna narrate every book I buy from this point forward !!!! Please consider getting into that business as well. Or write more books! Her voice is the voice I look forward to every day now. She is so calming articulate and speaks at the perfect pace and tone. The contents of this book is even more perfect. I am not easily impressed so to hear this from me is almost unheard of. Do not hesitate for one second to get this book. It literally changed my life. I went through the first breakup of my life in my 50s at the same time I was hit from behind in my car. This book instantly took away my sadness. I feel as happy as I did when I was a little girl . Is hopeful for the future every day. I feel genuine joy because of this book. Her voice makes you want to listen to it over and over again. I get so annoyed by a great book with a terrible narrator. I can’t even concentrate when that’s the case. Please Shauna write more books and Narrate them!

This book is for you if...
you want very practical tools to help you manage this journey we call life. Shauna is very down to earth and relatable and has a heart filled with love for humanity and an eagerness to want to help all. This book could save your life, if you do the practices she teaches. I also love the golden nuggets at the end of each chapter, very helpful in reminding me what I just learned...just like she said it would...Shauna blends neuroscience and mindfulness beautifully, making it very easy to understand and also inspiring us to use these different practices daily. Whether you're new to mindfulness or meditation or have been practicing for years, I highly recommend listening to this book...it could...save...your...life.

Watch the TED Talk, then evaluate
First note, I did not see the TED talk before I listened to this audiobook. based on the prominent placement and notice of the author's PhD, I came into this audiobook expecting a fairly scientific approach to mindfulness. instead, I felt like there was very little science and a very new age feel to the material. there were places where she would make claims about the science but with very little or no support for it, and no references or explanations.
Additionally, it felt fairly repetitive and like there was an extreme amount of filler. To put it bluntly, it felt like a TED talk that had been stretched into a somewhat weak book. About 20% of the book almost felt autobiographical, like she wanted to tell her story, and not just explain the subject matter. The performance had some issues, too. I think she would have been better off hiring a professional narrator to get a better cadence and feel to it. Also, there are some editing issues with what feels like sentences that cut off abruptly, as if they are missing words.
One other note, the majority of her first person anecdotes involve her son and motherhood. That's not to say that the examples can't be made to fit other situations, but be aware that this book feels very much like it was written by someone who specializes in acting as a mindfulness life coach for mothers. If that's not you, you may have trouble relating. It felt very much like the author has her entire identity wrapped up in being a mother.
I'm not going to say it was a bad book; however, it was definitely not one that I loved. it was lacking in science, had too much new age mumbo jumbo, and definitely felt targeted towards mothers specifically. I would have trouble recommending this book to anyone not part of that audience.

Perfect guide to train your brain for happiness!
In this awesome Audible version, Dr. Shauna Shapiro's beautifully calm voice wisely guides us up the path to neuroplasticity and its resulting happiness through meditation and mindfulness.
As an added bonus, Dr. Shapiro actually leads us through powerful (yet accessible) guided meditations. She is a master, one of the absolute best for sure.
This book is a joy and a gift, that I know will be "the gift that keeps on giving" as I further develop my mindfulness practice with its guidance.

This was the first book that helped me quell anxiety
Lovely, easy voice to hear. I’ve listened repeatedly to parts.
This amazing book is conscious-altering. It changed the way I approach each day, grounding me first thing in the morning with a simple task: telling myself “Good Morning, I love you.” It isn’t a primer on selfishness; rather, it guides you in regarding yourself with kindness and compassion, allowing you to feel less self-critical and, ultimately, less anxious.
This book is both educational and practical, giving nuggets at the end of each chapter that you hold on to. Favorite: What you practice becomes stronger.
The author explains brain functioning in an understandable way. The idea that we can change the way we think is empowering. Changing the way I initially think about — and process — events and thoughts, helps me be less reactive, more responsive. The suggestions work! Just what I needed
Gifted by the universe exactly when I needed it most. Cracked open my heart to the wisdom and importance of cultivating compassion and providing permission for self-compassion. I am grateful for Dr. Shapiro’s message of love, compassion and forgiveness and for providing the tools of practice.

Insightful
I consider myself a beginner of the mindfulness practice and this book was so insightful and taught me so many important things. Shauna goes through the actual science behind the power of mindfulness and meditation but she also includes helpful tools that can help you to achieve the most out of the practice. I recommend listening to her book as her I find her voice to be soothing and comforting. I wish I could thank her for writing this book, it truly has helped me find compassion for myself and I am now able to feel it deeply for others as well.
