Known for being 2018’s most-booked female speaker in the world and now a nationally-syndicated talk show host, Mel Robbins answers these questions and more with research-based strategies that you can put into action immediately.

In her lively social history of American women and aging, acclaimed New York Times columnist Gail Collins illustrates the ways in which age is an arbitrary concept that has swung back and forth over the centuries. From Plymouth Rock (when a woman was considered marriageable if "civil and under fifty years of age"), to a few generations later, when they were quietly retired to elderdom once they had passed the optimum age for reproduction, to recent decades, American attitudes towards age have been a moving target.

All 100 billion stars and 50 undecillion tons of gas of it. It all began some 13 billion years ago, when clouds of gas scattered through the universe's primordial plasma just could not keep their metaphorical hands off each other. They succumbed to their gravitational attraction, and the galaxy we know as the Milky Way was born.

Not entirely relatable
I enjoyed this audiobook for the most part and it was interesting to hear Mel help the people she was coaching. There were some good tips here and there but I felt like the candidates she picked all had very deep rooted problems that were quite traumatic and obvious to identify so Mel was basically only digging until she found the cause. As a person who lives a rather "normal" life without any traumatic experiences in my early life or serious issues, I couldn't relate to most of these people. I do struggle with procrastination and have some problems of my own but I don't think it's as easy to identify as the people she coached. As a result, I was only listening as an outsider hoping that it would help me find useful tips to pinpoint the cause of my own procrastination issues but couldn't.

Finished in one day...
The stories shared in this show were not only relatable, but captivating! I had no intention of listening to over 6 hours in one day, but I was so engaged that I couldn't help it. I laughed, I cried, I had my own ah-ha and "hell yes!" moments.
Mel's ability to get through to people is impressive and I hope you have your own powerful breakthroughs as a result of listening.

Way to KICK ASS Mel Robbins and team
I have been following Mel Robbins for a bit now, have read the 5 Second Rule. I took a class from her and am presently enjoying a Power of You training with Mel and the team. Kick Ass with Mel Robbins is such an entertaining piece of coaching yet has unbelievable information and tools that not only help the people being interviewed but all of us who are listening and can apply to these very same things to all aspects of our lives! Mel is such an engaging person. It's like she is right inside your head because she knows exactly what I'm thinking and should be but not doing. I love all the time, effort and love Mel and the team gives each and every person who listens to them!! Mel Robbins is a life changer❤️

Great Audiobook, but Dig Deeper.
I love the structure of this audiobook. It’s packed with live coaching sessions, which is fun to listen to and dissect. While this audiobook was well edited and produced, the depth of the content is lacking for me.
Instead of tackling the more common issues like procrastination, self-doubt, grief and anger, why not delve deeper? What about people plagued with issues that are arguably just as common but far less talked about? Mel uncovers people’s faults and weaknesses (as well as strengths) by studying their subtle behaviour patterns, but I’d like to see her do this for more extreme behaviours and people.
What about people with high-functioning hyperactive disorders, people with explosive anger problems, overt megalomaniacs, narcissists, egomaniacs, etc.. What if we took highly successful, yet tortured people and tried to coach them? I want to see Mel challenged and fix those challenges as a life coach. This audiobook makes it feel too easy and leaves much to be desired.
I’m interested in what the other side of the coin looks like and how Mel Robbins would delve into the psyche of more complex, manipulative individuals as well. That would break through the thin layer of mediocrity.
Other than that, excellent audiobook.

yes I was warned...
Her use of cussing really detracts from her brilliant mind. I realize she is making rude-cussing-in-your face therapy niche. I just felt it was unsuitable for me to listen to in normal places, and would like a more eloquent narrator/writer.

Not Impressed or Convinced
I do not often write reviews but i could not even finish this book and feel I should let people know, what i thought would be inspiring, like the 5 second rule; quickly became agitating. Listening to Mel Robbins call out every individual she interviewed on their traits and qualities, after one session is ridiculous. She is not even a licensed or trained therapist. I feel bad for the people who met with her and were called narcissists and manipulative, if you ask me she is the manipulative one, using people and their issues to sell another book.

Not terrible, but definitely not "coaching"
I'm a part-time health coach who picked this up for its promise of a "fly on the wall opportunity to listen in on Mel's coaching sessions."
I was disappointed.
Kick Ass wouldn't be too bad as a podcast or talk show, but I wouldn't call them coaching sessions. The pacing and casualness of the conversation is too polished on both sides for me to believe the guests weren't prepped beforehand. (Which would be expected of a podcast or talk show, but again, these are marketed as coaching sessions.)
Robbins does at least half the talking, with a lot of "I" and "me" statements and personal stories, which isn't typical in a coaching session. Guests are uncharacteristically forthcoming, there's a lot of laughter and banter, and the whole thing feels like it's tied up in a neat little package in under an hour. In short, it feels scripted to the point of being impractical for anyone looking to become a better coach.
If you're a coach looking for mentorship to up your game, I'm sorry to say, but keep looking.

A $26 Podcast
Good content and entertaining, however it's mostly unscripted dialog.
this is not an audiobook. it's a podcast, with each "chapter" unrelated to the last , they each even have the same 2 minute intro! This was clearly built as a series and is now being sold as a book when it simply isn't.

A Surprise Of A Good Listen...!
After The 5 Second Rule, I guess I didn't have really high expectations here. After all, 5 Second got pretty repetitive, and Mel didn't seem to feel bad that most of that book got to be same-old/same-old. So I suppose I expected to hear people who had the same problem at the root, or had differing problems, but they wound up being solved by the same tool. But I'm a person who thrives on self-development books, so I gave this one a try.
Boy! Every single person who Mel talks to here has a different sort of problem: Business problems, relationship problems, self-acceptance problems, and the list goes on. Some have had decent childhoods (though it was interesting that the majority of iconic issues occurred when people were in 4th grade/9-years old) with remarkably wounding episodes; some have had real horror shows in their backgrounds.
But, and this I liked, Robbins has a way of cutting to the quick with each of them: You are NOT your wound, so stop acting like it. And the people wound up seeing their own parts in their problems, their own failings. Some discovered they were manipulative, some wanted all the attention, one was just plain mean. But that was gotten to quickly and the tools to change were handed over immediately, so it's not like they were beaten over the head with their flaws. Mel is not a mean person; she's just honest and yikes is she quick on the draw.
I didn't give this five-stars because for a credit, I guess I kinda expected more clients. And as far as the Performance rating goes: What can I say? A couple of them speak like they're guest-stars, hoping to become famous. And a couple of them have laughs that about drove me up the wall (okay, so I'll shut up now about the petty things, shall I?).
The best part was that, at the end of each session, Robbins wraps it all up with takeaways that both you and I are privy to. We can all take something from each and every session (and don't get all offended if you hear profanity. There's a lot of pretty common language used).
So basically, this is a binge listen (and I'm not quoting the title or Audible will hold my review or remove it).
Think about yourself, think about your own issues, and find yourself in each and every one of these people who are struggling.

I related to every session somehow! Unbelievable
even when a session would start and I thought, "this does not Interests me" I would continue to listen and evitably I found something that really impacted me in every session. Everyone should listen to this book.

Holy Cow!
This isn't exactly an audio*book*, its a collection of Mel's sessions with various folks working through their issues. It is both HILARIOUS and seriously enlightening. I'm only on the second chapter/session and already so much of what Mel discusses has really resonated with me. This is actually the first "book" that falls under the "self help" or "development" categories I've ever read. I usually see these books and think, "I don't need this, I'm fine." or "I already know what I need to work on with myself" so I don't buy them or read them. Let me tell you, I am SO GLAD I bought this. This is something that will stay in my Audible rotation and read more than once.

The Most REAL Advice on the Internet Right Now
This isn’t just 8 individual stories or 8 individual coaching sessions. This is about the listener seeing a little bit of themselves in each of these 8 stories. When Mel was talking to the guest, she was talking to me. This is truly the most epiphany-inducing content I’ve digested since...ever. You will not be the same after you listen to this show.

Download this book! It will change your life!
I met Mel after her presentation at a Simmon's Leadership conference several years ago and I can tell you that she is the real deal, blazingly brilliant. She has something for YOU in this Audible original which is an integration of the wisdom of neuroscience (5 Second Rule) and practical KICK ASS advice about how to OWN YOUR STORY!
I loved the live coaching sessions. They were very transparent, full of raw genuine emotion and life changing insight. I am so excited about this Audible original format and getting this wisdom to the masses and how Mel continues to make life better for each and every person who is willing to own their life story.

MUST LISTEN OVER AND OVER!
I've listened to this twice now. There's so much to learn that you have to in order to pick up on everything. Although you won't relate to every story 100%, you will learn something you can apply to your own life in 100% of the stories.

Amazeballs
Per usual Mel was straightforward and I love that! Her subjects were all actually quite entertaining. Some were even hysterically funny. Somehow I related to almost all of them and definitely learned something from each session. I'm a self help junkie and this is high on my list of actually helpful and not the usual BS. It was so good I'll probably listen to it a second time. So many nuggets. And the cursing..... f****** fabulous.

Mindblowing
I got to know Mel Robbins from Impact theory , and then started following her journey everywhere I could . I decided to buy this Book to be more self-aware and understand my own thought-process and mind deeper . Throughtout each of these coaching sessions , I realised how amazing it was and how many advices could be applied to my relationships , business and life . À huge thanks from France ❤️

HIGHLY recommend kick ass !!!
Entertaining and confronting... every story awoke some part of me and made me take a long hard look at myself... but was comforting to know that I am not the only one dealing with my shit... I love the authenticity and honesty of Mel Robbins... and the people she interviewed... awesome job!! Sending huge hugs to all these people that were brave enough to take the plunge and open themselves up!!

It will blow your mind
Mel Robbins has an incredible gift : she can see through our stories to show us what we can't see, by changing perspectives. Because she is very true about herself, she is able to relate it to her own story and put it in a way that does not make us feel guilty about our toxic patterns and allows us to get over them, in order to shift to the life we really want.
The coaching sessions are incredible, very "down to earth" kind of talk, yet lifting up like a zeppelin.
What blew my mind is that, at first, I thought "Uh, I will have to go through 8 different coaches in hope to find one I can relate to. And maybe I won't relate to any !". When in fact, I could relate to ALL OF THEM.
Every single one of these 8 coaching sessions helped me understand a pattern I have, at various levels. And all of them helped me relieve a pattern that is not helping me anymore. Because what she teaches us above all is that what we refer to as obstacles were once in our life to protect us from something. And we just have to get conscious about them to release them.
Thank you Mel Robbins, you are a gift to humanity. And I am not exagerating. You show us a very righteous path.
Suzon
