I have loved this series and was so excited to get the new book. However I’m struggling with the new narrator. Andrea just did such a fantastic job of making each character stand out. Now I can’t tell who’s talking. And I really don’t like the antinium voices. Not sure that I can continue on with the series, which breaks my heart as this was always my most favourite listen.

The book was like the others, it started out slow and picked up at the end. it ended on a very exciting point. feels like many things happened and nothing happened. (it feels like a filler book that sets up stuff to come)

the new reader is okay, the change is not something I'm happy about. it's always going to be off-putting any time I relisten to the series. may of the characters voices are hard to tell apart and thoes that are distinct are are different in a way that is very off-putting.

it was fine. if this was the series from the start I don't think it would be as popular as it is.

You know when you watch a TV show and after 15 seasons with some seasons having suuuper long episodes, And they change every single character in the show but they are still trying to be the same characters? that's this book. As the title says, I listen while operating heavy equipment and have audio books on in the background. I can't do that with this book. I don't hate it, but I don't have the time to understand who's talking, and end up rewinding to understand. the antinium sound like cat people, and I just feel lost when trying to enjoy a book I loved. I only got a couple chapters in, and I know some people said you just needs like 15 hours to get used to the new voices, or something... that's more time than several seasons of some tv shows. I work, books are an escape. I can't seem to escape when this book is playing. love the series. but knowing there's lots of sexual content and how hard it is for me to take the book in how I normally do. I'll be stopping this series for now. maybe if the reviews on the next book are good I'll finish this one. but for now... I sadly say good day.

I had a nig worry about the narrator change but she did a great job. Obviously took a little getting used to but did a great job overall. I love the wandering inn series, another great book.

I like this narrator more. The previous speaker made Erin’s voice “too high” in my personal opinion.

I listened to the entire book to give the new narrator a fair chance. She had big shoes to fill, and while the narration is serviceable, it never quite reaches the level Andrea brought to the series. I often had trouble telling which character was speaking, and I found the system and Antinium voices especially disappointing—the pacing felt too slow and lacked distinction. Male voices, in particular, didn’t come through convincingly.
As for the story itself, I’ve always loved the slow-burn style of this series, but this installment felt more like setup than substance. Not much truly happened, and the momentum seemed to stall. Overall, it left me underwhelmed compared to earlier entries.

I gave the new narrator a good chance to see if I could adjust to it. but after having one narrator for 15 books before changing makes it very hard to switch to someone new.
Andrea did such an amazing job of making the characters unique and having them all change is really disconcerting. the new narrator sounds the same for many characters and it's much more difficult to tell people apart.

the other thing is that a bunch of the pronunciation for certain names changed and that's even worse.

I adore this series and I'm not sure I'm going to be able to continue listening and I'm really sad about it

I avoided getting this book for 3 months because of the narration change. I finally decided to give it a chance and I absolutely loved Erin Bennett, she did an amazing job.

As for the actually story, I was a bit disappointed in the lack of substance and why with the 3-4 chapters wasted on sex scenes. I was glad for the warning to skip them, but even after those chapters sex was mentioned a few times at completely random times. It completely took me out of the story as it felt unnecessary and unrelated.

Erin Bennett deserves way more praise!

I was blown away at how seamlessly the new narrator came into the story making it her own but also respecting the voices.
