La vie de l'agent de police de Lochdubh, Hamish Macbeth, part en vrille. Il a (horreurs !) été promu, son nouveau patron est un cancre, et un voyageur itinérant nommé Sean et sa petite amie ont garé leur horrible camionnette rouillée au milieu du village.
