Contrary to most people’s belief that abusers prey on the weak and foolish, abusers also prey on capable and attractive people because they seek the challenge too.

Prince Lyov Nikolayevitch Myshkin is one of the great characters in Russian literature. Is he a saint or just naïve? Is he an idealist or, as many in General Epanchin's society feel, an "idiot"? Certainly his return to St. Petersburg after years in a Swiss clinic has a dramatic effect on the beautiful Aglaia, youngest of the Epanchin daughters, and on the charismatic but willful Nastasya Filippovna. As he paints a vivid picture of Russian society, Dostoyevsky shows how principles conflict with emotions - with tragic results.

Traditional parenting strategies that work on other kids just don't work with a borderline child. But you shouldn't lose hope. The good news is that there are parenting strategies that do work.

I read the 1st edition of this book to help manage my BPD dad and BPD ex-boyfriend. This 3rd edition has so much more information. I am so happy I bought the audiobook as my OG copy is on loan.
I finally understand why I didn’t see the same signs and behaviours, as I literally dating all three types, there are various types?!
I ask my mother a simple question, and watch her go through all the scenarios in her head on how my dad could react to each one - she is trying to anticipate his potential reactions. And all I can think of is I don’t want to end up like this.
Thank you for continuing to update this bible for people living with BPD.
