Publisher's Summary

Number one New York Times best seller • From the best-selling author of One of Us Is Lying comes your next obsession. You'll never feel the same about family again.

Milly, Aubrey, and Jonah Story are cousins, but they barely know each another, and they've never even met their grandmother. Rich and reclusive, she disinherited their parents before they were born. So when they each receive a letter inviting them to work at her island resort for the summer, they're surprised...and curious.

Their parents are all clear on one point - not going is not an option. This could be the opportunity to get back into Grandmother's good graces. But when the cousins arrive on the island, it's immediately clear that she has different plans for them. And the longer they stay, the more they realize how mysterious - and dark - their family's past is.

The entire Story family has secrets. Whatever pulled them apart years ago isn't over - and this summer, the cousins will learn everything.

Fans of the hit thriller that started it all can watch the secrets of the Bayview Four be revealed in the One of Us is Lying TV series now streaming on NBC's Peacock!

Great Story, medicore casting

I absolutely loved this novel and find that this author is especially talented at plot and character development- I read a lot of this kinda genre and she's one of the few people who can write a twist that still gets me. Also, the plot and story are super novel and interesting. My only complaint is the casting - all the narrators are good, and Jonah is perfectly casted, but Millie and Aubre sound too similar, and both have soft voices. Phillipa Soo should have been casted as Millie, and Millie's actor as Aubre. That would have made this production exceptional.

what the hell

Story wise, this was absolute trash. The writing was very juvenile and seriously cliché and kitsch. One of the worst book I’ve seen. But my biggest problem is: [mild spoilers ahead] HOW ARE PEOPLE PRAISING THE PLOT TWIST?! First of all, it doesn’t make a bit of sense and second of all, THE AUTHOR PULLED THE SAME TWIST 4 TIMES THROUGHOUT THE NOVEL! First with the uncle, then with Jonah, then with Jonah AGAIN and finally with the grandmother and like…….. how were people surprised after the first time that twist was pulled?! It’s a bad trope on its own but four times in the same book is just ridiculous.
+ the voice actor for Millie talked like she was 12. It got on my nerves. But she wasn’t given great material to begin with so I don’t fully blame her.

Nope. Nope and Nope.

10/10 do not recommend.

This story just drags on. The characters are dull and the story itself is just predictable and boring.
