When Jenna Kutcher was 22, she left her corporate job, bought a camera on Craigslist for $300, and started her own business as a wedding photographer. From that single investment in herself, she built a successful company, a thriving podcast, a brand. But her driving force is never about working harder/smarter/faster/better. What Jenna Kutcher embraces is the simple notion that we, women especially, crave lives of fulfillment, lives of enrichment. That comes from investing, first and most importantly in ourselves and in our dreams.

Great toolkits for various psychological holdbacks
Referred from Ali Abdaal's "Deep Dive" Podcast.
I love how the book is divided into various situations that we find troubling. More often than not, the toolkits to ameliorate those conflicts were similar in nature: mindfulness, mindful breathing, and cognitive-behaviour therapy which is a fancy way of saying "questioning whether your thoughts are true, and that you are not your thoughts".
There are summaries at the end of each chapter. If you don't know what certain summary points are, then you can simply go back to her spiel on it in that section of the chapter to remind yourself.

Zero Fluff action guide for everyone
So much of self help and personal development literature is jam packed with needless fluff. With lots of superficial what to do. This one is different. There is no fluff here. Every part section is packed with ideas, what's how's and why. Supported by research and years of practical experience. I'd suggest anyone who reads or listens to this goes cover to cover first. Getting comfortable with the concepts. Seeing where their life might fit in. Then go back and read the chapters again that matter most to them.

Monotonous
I was so excited to download this book after following her on Instagram. I really love her Instagram posts and will have to continue loving them cause this book was so hard to listen to. I couldn’t focus on anything she was saying because the tone was monotonous, barely any pauses in her sentence structure and the lack of inflection of her voice kept throwing me off. There was no time to digest anything she was saying, as she moved swiftly from topic to topic. I found myself getting lost in other thoughts as this was background noise in my ears. I returned it to Audible.

Great narration and information
I found this author on TikTok, and it was a no-brainer for me whether or not to purchase it. Being less than the price of a therapy session and having immediate access when I was struggling with sleep due to stress were the key factors in buying. I will admit that at first I found the voice and narration a bit too soothing - to the point where I would find myself zoning out and not being conscious of the information being said. What I decided to do was remove myself from my normal environment (home, where I also work, which has now become a very stress-filled space). I took this audiobook out into nature and listened while being in the wilderness, away from the city. It was only then that I found myself being very present and able to actually digest the information. I will say, that several times I found myself saying, “Why has nobody told me this before?” So, I think the author reached her goal. Great job! The information in this book will take months/years and repeated listens to truly understand and put into practice, but I’m glad that I have it.

standard CBT guide
the only way the reader has not heard these strategies before is if they have never read any other CBT book. It's interesting that the author claims it's more than about cognitions, then spend the next few chapters talking about cognitions. Nevertheless, it's actually a pretty good read if you're not familiar with the information.

Chime sound effects are so painful
I like the content but I hate the chime before exercises. I know why they add a “focus now”noise there, but I listen to audiobooks with my earbuds, and that chime noise hurts so much that it disrupts the whole process. After that I can’t think at all much less do any helpful exercises, and whatever beneficial information came before it is lost while my nerves recover.
If I could anticipate the chime by a pause or a phrase about upcoming exercise, I would stop to remove my earbuds, but it comes seemingly randomly, when I am closely focused on the narration. If I turn the volume down I can’t hear the narrator. Producers - this may seem like a good idea psychologically but in an audio book it’s a miserable experience.
I will try to finish this book when I have the time to sit and listen without earbuds, but if I wanted to sit still during a book I would buy the print version and just read it. I really don’t want to have to buy both.

Amazing
I have read MANY self help books throughout my life. This book is honestly one of the BEST I ever have read! I enjoyed listening to Dr. Julie share her stories, examples and tools that I honestly wish I had been told earlier. They are simple and easy to follow. Her kindness and genuineness is evident through the book. I am incredibly grateful for her willingness to share these things with the world and only wish I could have her be my personal therapist! Thank you Dr Julie for this amazing book!!!

Excellent and Compact guide for Life Issues
The audio for starters is amazing. The book has a lot of guidelines for people to refer to when they need it. The language is plain and simple. The toolkits are nice and practical. Overall a very good mental health guide for everyday living. Even if you are in therapy this is a great book to refer to.

Absolutely loved it!
I've been following Dr. Julie Smith on Facebook for well over a year, and find her information to be very timely and helpful. I was delighted to hear that she was writing a book, and it does not disappoint.
It's full of great information, fun to listen to and easy to understand. I like it so much that I bought the audiobook and Kindle version for myself, and plan to get the hard copy for my 14 year old daughter. Just wonderful - highly recommend!!
