  • Season 1: Overcoming Negative Thoughts
    May 30 2024

In this episode, we dive deep into one of the tools we have available to us to overcome those pesky negative thoughts we may be having. Thoughts like, I am not a good father, I am not good at my job, I am a horrible husband. When we tell ourself these thoughts we are convincing ourself that we aren't good when most likely we are just being our own worst enemy.

    Key Points Discussed:

    1. Identify the negative self talk and list it out

    2. Identify what facts prove that statement right, or wrong. (i.e. Good fathers do xy and z.)

    3. Evaluate how you do against the fact list. You will have some yes and some no answers. That's ok, the no's tell you where you need to work on improving, the yes tells you where to be proud of what you have already done.

    4. Reframe the original negative statement to a more factual positive statement.

    Next Episode:

Tune in to our next episode as we discuss a deep dive on gratitude journaling, where we will explore some practical tools to overcome self doubt and help us to be grateful for where we are, and get a plan for where we want to be.
