After not earning a spot on his junior high school basketball team, Ray is confused on what direction he should take. He has always played sports, but he is now at a crossroads. He takes up skateboarding, and with it come Ray’s downfall. He lets a stereotype control his life. He stops hanging out with longtime friends. He begins socializing with a rough crowd. He shoplifts, and just when he thinks he has become invincible, he is arrested.

Jeff Wright is at the pinnacle of his Major League Baseball career, earning his way into his first All-Star Game. Not long after, Jeff suffers a gruesome, career-ending injury and ventures down a path of self-destruction and becomes addicted to painkillers. He is arrested for drug possession. Upon completing a stint in a rehabilitation center, Jeff returns to his hometown of Lewis Rock, Georgia, where he discovers that the town’s largest job source, Reynolds Manufacturing, is being sold off and will leave hundreds jobless. He also attempts to rekindle a love that he lost years ago.

The brown dog was being tested for megaesophagus with aspiration pneumonia, a surefire canine killer, and the veterinarian was sure of his diagnosis. He deadpanned that this condition would spell the end for Sonny, a one-and-a-half-year-old Labrador-hound mix rescued from the Greater Birmingham Humane Society in Alabama. But Sonny had other plans. 

Jimmy Ray was quiet, shy, and humble, but even the most unassuming people have burning passions in their hearts. Jimmy’s was for the disabled, those in Northwest Florida who were stuck inside their homes because they could not afford to have wheelchair ramps built. That bothered Jimmy to his core. He began constructing wheelchair ramps with the help of his wife and young daughter, and along the way, a church ministry was born. It became Jimmy’s mission in life. Men, women, and children volunteered. Money and materials were donated. More than 500 lives were changed forever.

Newspaper articles live a regrettably short life, unless they are sealed behind glass and hung on bedroom walls. They remain in mint condition for one day, and that is often it. They are read at the kitchen table, crumpled and thrown in the trash. They are pressed into cardboard boxes, to help people move household items. They are rolled tight, to frighten dogs into good behavior. They are tossed into campfires, fireplaces and even litter boxes. They turn yellow in coin boxes and on newsstands, unread. The articles are quickly forgotten.
