Can I redeem a gift membership if I’m already a member?

Yes. Instead of being enrolled into the gift membership plan, you’ll receive all the credits you would have received during your gift membership all at once. The gift membership you redeem doesn’t replace your current membership or extend your current gift membership. If you’re on a paid monthly or annual membership plan, you’ll still be charged on your next billing date.

What will happen if I redeem a gifted title I already own?

Instead of receiving a title you already own, the person who purchased the gift will get a refund for their gift purchase based on how the gift was purchased:

  • If the gift was purchased with a credit, the purchaser receives a credit.
  • If the gift was purchased with a credit card, the purchaser receives a refund for the amount paid back to their original card.

Why can’t I redeem my gift membership?

Gift membership claim codes are case-sensitive, so make sure you’re entering the code exactly as it appears into the space provided. If you continue to have any issues redeeming your gift, please contact our Customer Support team, who will be happy to help.

Why can't I redeem my audiobook gift?

There are a number of reasons you may be having issues redeeming your gift, and a few troubleshooting steps that may help you.

  • You may have already redeemed the gift.
  • You’ve already redeemed your gift and you’re attempting to redeem a recommendation that’s only available for purchase.
  • You need to add a billing address to confirm your gift audiobook is available in your location if you’re new to Audible or don’t have an Amazon account.

Try refreshing your browser or Library
After redeeming your recommendation, it will appear in your Library in the app and on the Audible site. Please refresh your browser or app Library to see if your title is there. Your newest title should appear at the top.

Check if the title is a recommendation
The first gift audiobook accepted is absolutely free, regardless of membership status. You’ll continue to receive recommendations from us, and it’s up to you if you’d like to purchase them.

  • If you have a membership, you can buy the recommended audiobook using a credit (if available) or at the member price.
  • If you don’t have a membership and are eligible for a 30-day free trial with Audible, you can redeem your second recommendation as part of the free title you receive with your trial to Audible.
  • If you don’t have a membership and aren’t eligible for a trial, you can purchase the the title at the regular retail price at your discretion. If you haven’t redeemed a title previously, the title may not be available in your location due to the geographical rights of that title. For all other issues related to redeeming your first recommendation, please contact our Customer Support team.

Add a billing address
Although your first redeemed audiobook is free, we require a method of payment and billing address in order to determine if the title you received is available in your location.

When publishers decide to publish a work, they acquire the rights to distribute that particular title in certain regions of the world. Frequently, the rights for a title are split among several companies, each of whom publishes for different countries.

Without an address on your account, we aren’t able to determine if Audible holds the rights to that audiobook in your country.

To add a billing address, attempt to redeem your received title on your account, and enter your address in the spaces provided. After entering that information, select Continue to complete your redemption.
