Story
In the supernatural realms, there are creatures who belong to winter. I am not one of them. But like the coyote I can become at will, I am adaptable. My name is Mercy Thompson Hauptman, and my mate, Adam, is the werewolf who leads the Columbia Basin Pack, the pack charged with keeping the people who live and work in the Tri-Cities of Washington State safe. It’s a hard job, and it doesn’t leave much room for side quests. Which is why when I needed to travel to Montana to help my brother, I intended to go by myself.

Publisher's Summary
The new Charles and Anna novel
Praised as "the perfect blend of action, romance, suspense and paranormal" (Rex Robot Reviews), the Alpha and Omega novels transport listeners into the realm of the werewolf, where Charles Cornick and Anna Latham embody opposite sides of the shifter personality. Now a pleasure trip drops the couple into the middle of some bad supernatural business....
For once, mated werewolves Charles and Anna are not traveling because of Charles' role as his father's enforcer. This time their trip to Arizona is purely personal, as Charles plans to buy Anna a horse for her birthday. Or at least it starts out that way....
Charles and Anna soon discover that a dangerous Fae being is on the loose, replacing human children with simulacrums. The Fae's cold war with humanity is about to heat up - and Charles and Anna are in the cross fire.

Do not get some of the hohum reviews for this book. It’s an awesome read and well worth the credit I spent. Love Anna and Charles and how their relationship is growing. A worthy addition to the series.

Surprisingly different!
BEFORE YOU JUGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER : This is not ome of those super sexy and erotic novel you might think it is! Its just a nice, adventure filled, mysterious, funny and wholesome story. Third in its series, it also intermi gles with Brigg's Mercy Thompson's series, witch ia the reason why I am reading these. I gotta say, these character grew on me and this book is my favorit of its series so far!

Reveiw
Once again Holter Graham has made a story come alive with his talent and skill. The way he voices characters makes them come alive until you can practically picture them. This reading was delightful.
Dead Heat is a great expansion on the Alpha and Omega storyline. It introduces us to things from Charles past, expands our knowledge of the change, and fleshes out werewolf culture as a whole. We get some characters from past books come back, which is delightful, and learn new things about old favorites.
Once again Patricia Briggs has woven a colourful and insightful tale ripe with many a character I would love to learn more about. I have and will continue to encourage my friends and family to read these books, and I hope other people do to. The universe Mrs. Briggs writes is a marvelous place I'd love to get to know even more.
