Description

Here's why ADHD could be the key to your success.

For decades physicians delivered the diagnosis of ADHD to patients as bad news and warned them about a lifelong struggle of managing symptoms. But The ADHD Advantage explodes this outlook, showing that some of the most highly successful entrepreneurs, leaders, and entertainers have reached the pinnacle of success not in spite of their ADHD but because of it.

Although the ADHD stereotype is someone who can't sit still, in reality people with ADHD are endlessly curious, often adventurous, willing to take smart risks, and unusually resilient. They are creative, visionary, and entrepreneurial. Sharing the stories of highly successful people with ADHD, Dr. Archer offers a vitally important and inspiring new way to recognize ADHD traits in oneself or in one's loved ones, and then leverage them to great advantage - without drugs.

As someone who not only has ADHD himself but also has never used medication to treat it, Dr. Archer understands the condition from a unique standpoint. Armed with new science and research, he hopes to generate public interest and even debate with his positive message as he guides the millions of people with ADHD worldwide toward a whole new appreciation of their many strengths and full innate potential.

Really disappointed

The guy is known in his field, but mostly offers anecdotal evidence of "success stories" to inspire people with adhd to try to live without medications they may need. It feels very condescending, it's all about the idea that if you try hard enough and know yourself you don't need pills, even though lots of people do and it isn't because they don't try hard enough. It doesn't read like a book written by an academic, it feels like an opinion piece.

couldn't be bothered to finish this drivel

the robotic voice and the way it was written sounded more like they were trying to sell you something. because in fact they were trying to sell you something.

a lightly polished turd with glitter on it, that belongs in the toilet.

This book was a game changer for me.

If you're an ADHDer yourself or living with someone who has been identified as being ADHD, this book is a must read. I've learnt more about myself in the past 8 hours reading this book then I have in the past 40 years of life. A serious game changer. Thank you. Now it's time to implement it.

Must Read

Honestly this is such a breeze of fresh air in the sea of books on ADHD redirecting people constantly towards medication and how this learning disability can take over you life. This book brought me a new perspective on ADHD and not to see it as such a burden. It provides useful and realistic tips on how to live life meds free and still find yourself in this world, while staying the way you are. Definitely recommend if you have AD(H)D or know someone with it.

Heavily biased

The author rightfully examines the abuse of stimulant medication by those who do not require it, discusses the high rate of ADHD diagnosis in the USA, then concludes this is the result of zealous GPs doing the bidding of "big Pharma", while cherry picking evidence to support a weak hypothesis. In the process of demonizing stimulant medication, the author fails to distinguish between abuse and responsible use, which is supported by decades of high powered peer reviewed research.

Whatever good this book may offer is all but negated by the untenable bias the author imputes regarding medication prescribed by thoughtful clinicians. The overarching opinion that ADHD is, in many cases, simply a marketing gimmick by big pharma, which prey on inexperienced clinicians, is irresponsible and incongruent with accepted medical evidence.

repeating the same thing over and over and over

I find it odd that this book just keeps repeating the same points. "pills are often too quickly prescribed" , that's a great point, we should be more aware not this . "pills are too often a quick fix" ....ok understood. "our society drive pills as the solution to all our problems but thats not always the case" .........ok for the love of god move on.

making this point is very important and I understand that, but saying it over and over in different words just sounds like filler and super boring.

going to attempt to finish this but man i feel like I need a handful of pills just to get through the mind numbing repetition.
