Around chapter 5’ish the narrator starts yelling every line that is said out loud…
1) The book itself is quite good and I have enjoyed it.
2) it almost made me want to quit…I have no idea what happened but when the MC meets some friends everyone starts yelling when talking out loud. It is the most grating development in the narration so far. What an odd narration choice but there it is.
What’s funny is Linda yells everything she says out loud and by chapter 9 sounds like Shorsey from Letter Kenny 😂 I was dying at that point.
I’ve had to calmly pause the audio a few times now after being irritated with this “Dora The Explorer” like yelling of the lines. It’s so over the top and unnatural that I want to quit the book. However the book itself is quite good. It seems maybe more YA oriented but it seems like a compelling weak to strong progression so far. We shall see. The author has done well. The narrator needs to settle down though, people don’t talk like that, it wears you down…

DONT BUY THIS! THERES A 3.5 BOOK COMBO ALSO FOR 1 CREDIT!
That being said, definitely worth checking out! But don't be dumb like me and by this single book with a credit! There's a compilation of the first 3 books plus a novella between books 3 and 4 all for 1 credit. It's not listed in the series section, but search it up by the author and you'll find it!
As for this book though, I wasn't expecting such a great story from a book with so few reviews.. but for once there's actually a MC who works hard and works around his misfortune! I was getting so tired of reading about MCs who are just average at best or actual losers with no drive who get teleported to a magical world and just get exceedingly lucky early on which makes them oonga boonga strength monster who's OP.. this is a refreshing change of a hard working MC who trained his whole life only to get super unlucky but works his way through it all!

This book was written beautifully and the narrator was perfect. Great job with everything you have done with this book I can’t wait for more books in this series.

Solid YA
I didn't know this was a YA novel but am glad I bought it. My only complaint is how the skill names are narrated in a different voice and dubbed in after. It honestly sounds pretty dumb and got on my nerves occasionally! Otherwise a great story for the genre with a solidly progressing plot.

What a banger
Absolutely knocked it out of the park. The magic system, the universe (multiverse?), the intrigue… There’s a good mix of goody two-shoes / white knighting and murderhoboing (ahem, I mean, self defence). Verrryyyyy excited to see where this goes.

Meh
The story is ok, in line with most other litrpgs I've listened to. For the most part it was enjoyable but there were a bunch of things that were extremely cringe that I had to skip through in order to finish.
The main character wasn't as bad as a lot of folks in the genre but still did not act his age/understand how someone that old generally converses/acts. There was also the "I get it" vibe about the whole thing, reductive descriptions of complex problems; eg: make a female strong and stand up to a bully and suddenly we've solved sexism.
Won't listen to the next one.
