This week, I am pleased to welcome Dr. Nancy L. Gantt, professor of surgery at Northeastern Ohio Medical University also known as NEOMED in Rootstown, Ohio. Dr. Gantt is the breast director lead at the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center and is a past president of the Association of Women Surgeons, as well as the current chair of the Association of Women's Surgeons Foundation. She is the past president of the Ohio chapter of the American College of Surgeons. She was the vice of the American College of Surgeons Board of Governors and the Diversity Pillar for the American College of Surgeons Board of Governors and she is the first Vice President-Elect of the American College of Surgeons. She is a role model, a mentor, and an inspiration for so many people.

Our first guest is Dr. Thomas Varghese Jr., an accomplished thoracic surgeon serving as Associate Chief Medical Quality Officer & Chief Value Officer at Huntsman Cancer Institute, and heading the General Thoracic Surgery Section at the University of Utah. He's a tenured Professor of Surgery at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Dr. Varghese is nationally recognized for his expertise in thoracic surgery, specializing in lung, esophageal, and mediastinal diseases, and is renowned for his work in minimally invasive techniques. He's a leader in health services and educational research, notably creating the Strong for Surgery program, now a formal Quality program of the American College of Surgeons. He's a prolific researcher with significant extramural funding, including leading a Phase III clinical trial funded by the National Cancer Institute. Additionally, he is engaged in promoting justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion within surgery. Dr. Varghese is a respected figure in digital media and serves as President-Elect of the Society of University Surgeons.
