About this listen

America has become the land of the free and the home of the broke.

Household debt is at an all-time high, and every day people—just like you—are feeling more cynical and hopeless about their financial futures. It’s time to stop believing countless lies from a system designed to take your money—lies like student loans are the golden ticket to a good-paying job, car payments are just part of life, and that you need to have a credit card.

Ramsey Personality and personal finance expert George Kamel shares his story of going from a negative net worth to a millionaire in under 10 years by following Dave Ramsey’s Baby Steps. George’s delivery, highlighted by his snarky sense of humor, will keep you laughing and engaged from cover to cover (no put-you-to-sleep financial advice here). Through a millennial point of view, George exposes the toxic money system designed to keep you average (and broke) and offers solutions to help you break free from:

  • Credit cards and credit scores
  • Student and car loans
  • Mortgage mistakes
  • Investing traps
  • Marketing and consumerism

No matter where you’re starting from, you’ll learn that you have the power to buck the toxic money system and build wealth if you follow the same principles George used to become a millionaire.

Great information. It was laid out well, great tips and life experiences. He even had jokes along the way.

Not a boring audiobook

Well ... Mr. George Kamel, just when one might think that You couldn't top your witty banter of those YouTube videos and Podcasts with the equally talented Ms Rachel Cruze, then you go and have to show us that there is sooooo much more in the tank.

As a humble Author myself of 8 published works, I think I might just recognize a talent when I see it. You Sir, have produced (albeit with the dutiful and dedicated assistance of a number of excellent associates) one very fine piece of factual, witty, and most helpful for the masses, piece of learning in the printed form. Your book is superb. I read the Audible version of the script, or should I say listened to it. To be honest, I thoroughly enjoyed it and even though I have been a fan of the Ramsey approach to life and money for some time now, there was still subtleties and innuendos that were presented at very meaningful junctures.

There is much to learn here, for the individual of ALL ages who wishes to enrich his or her life and that of their family. By enrich, I refer not only to the monetary quantitative aspect of life but the equally important qualitative aspect of the one life that we have each been given to steward.

Thank You so much Mr. Kamel for your fine work. I look forward to your next project. I most heartily recommend "Breaking Free from Broke" by the eminent Mr. George Kamel.

Honestly this was the best money I have ever spent in my life. Extremely helpful but also entertaining. Never once felt the despair and depression that typically accompanies any financial book. He’s very funny. The sound effects and guitar playing are welcomed. Even the brief audio clips made this more like watching a YouTube video that teaches so much than actually listening to a book. It really caters to younger generations which most financial books do not. You aren’t guilted for wanting to get Starbucks or ordering a pizza. But you get the tools you need to see a “not now” mentality isn’t “not ever”. Everyone needs to listen to this book. Wish there were Canadian versions available. We have very different titles for investments. But not a deal breaker. Wish I could gift wrap the audio for my friends. Fantastic!

The most entertaining financial book I’ve ever read or heard!! Entertaining but impactful!

This is not a passive listen/read. George added so much actual factual information, it was at times hard to keep up with while trying to do other things (but that isn't a bad thing). George is so funny, and a great narrator. I am so glad I listened to this book, and Jade's quick read "Money's Not a Math Problem" - together, these are new ideas on an old Ramsey platform of the Baby Steps. Dave should be proud of his new personalities for refining the old message for the new age. Good job, George!
