Story
Nahri has never believed in magic. Certainly, she has power; on the streets of 18th-century Cairo, she’s a con woman of unsurpassed talent. But she knows better than anyone that the trades she uses to get by - palm readings, zars, and a mysterious gift for healing - are all tricks, both the means to the delightful end of swindling Ottoman nobles and a reliable way to survive. But when Nahri accidentally summons Dara, an equally sly, darkly mysterious djinn warrior, to her side during one of her cons, she’s forced to reconsider her beliefs.

Sad that it’s over
Crooked Kingdom is a different color to Six of Crows, and luckily it’s a welcoming kind of change. The bond of the crew is more established and you delve deeper into the making of the characters. I love how Wylan gets a POV and his VA suits him perfectly. Also have to applaud Kaz’s VA’s old men imitations lmao. There are some odd times where the audio is clipped before the sentence is fully finished. While the ending for SoC left me satisfied & hungry for more, the ending here felt a little less rewarding, kind of wrapped up quickly but not sloppily. Nonetheless I recommend 10/10

Incredible
Wow.... I can think of so many ways to describe this amazing series. you simply have to read/listen to it yourself. The narrators killed it! they matched each voice and the way each character perseved other's voice was so well done. Kaz is the anti hero I've been waiting for all my life! he is the MC I wanted Alina to be. I'm starting king of scars right now! there goes all the credits I saved. :)

Action scenes
I love these books and I hate to bring any negativity to them but I wish the action scenes were executed differently often enough that I feel I need to comment.
the other day a friend and I were talking about the ways a narrator can imply that things tense. a quicker pace, talking through teeth, whisper shouting... Anyway, when an intense scene is read with the same calm and a quiet one on one, it can lack the urgency of the written words and I just wished that had been better honoured by some of the narrators. Thanks.

I was worried that the second book might lose my attention. However it was a good story and I enjoyed how the characters continued to develop. I also enjoyed the way the relationships flourished. Over all good book. I enjoyed listening to it while out walking and doing chores.
