Story
The future of our society depends on our gifted children - the population in which we'll find our next Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, or Virginia Woolf. Yet the gifts and talents of some of our most brilliant kids may never be recognized because these children fall into a group known as twice exceptional, or "2e". Twice exceptional kids are both gifted and diagnosed with a disability - often ADHD or an autism spectrum disorder - leading teachers and parents to overlook the child's talents and focus solely on his weaknesses.

Publisher's Summary
Gifted children and adults are often misunderstood. Their excitement is viewed as excessive, their high energy as hyperactivity, their persistence as nagging, their imagination as not paying attention, their passion as being disruptive, their strong emotions and sensitivity as immaturity, their creativity and self-directedness as oppositional.
This resource describes these overexcitabilities and strategies for dealing with children and adults who are experiencing them and provides essential information about Dabrowski's Theory of Positive Disintegration. Learn practical methods for nurturing sensitivity, intensity, perfectionism, and much more.
This audio edition of Living with Intensity is skillfully narrated by Camille Mazant.

Great booked for understanding giftedness & OEs
I will listen to this book many times. It was a really great, informative tool to understand a giftedness diagnosis and it was reassuring to understand that some of my experiences through life had to do with my OEs.

This Book Explains A LOT
This has been one of the most enlightening books I have read in a long time that helped me understand the importance of considering the role that giftedness plays in our lives. The theory of positive disintegration is fascinating..

uninspired narration and poorly organized book
if this book had any redeeming qualities in its written form, they were thoroughly erased by the quality of the narrator, who read it in the most boring monotonous academic drivel tone I have ever heard. I tried so hard to finish it, having a great need to learn more about this topic both as a parent and as a teacher. But I just couldn't get anything from it.
